Once they arrived at her apartment, Bella went into the kitchen to make Dominic a cup of honey tea.
When she was done and saw that he didn't have any shoes to wear, she suddenly remembered that she did not have a pair of suitable slippers for him. So, she could only turn on the heater in her living room.
The couch was small, so Bella curled herself up in one of the corners and began surfing through the TV channels.
She couldn't seem to find a channel that interested her as each channel seemed to be playing an advertisement.
Dominic held the cup in his hand, seemingly lost in thought.
After about ten minutes, he said slowly, "Victor knew my dad. I found a group photo of him, my mom, and my dad."
Bella looked at him in confusion. "Wait, what? If he knew your parents before, doesn't that explain why he's been so supportive of you in the business industry? At least you don't have to worry about him approaching you with other intentions."
He paused before saying, "I don't think things are as simple as they seem. If that really were the case, he would have no reason to keep it a secret. He would've told me he knew my parents right from the start. But not only did he not mention it, he even purposely changed the subject when I brought it up."
Bella recalled the story she had overheard when she was in the hospital. Although she didn't know if it would help with his confusion, she retold it to him.
"Back when Victor was admitted to Horizon Hospital, I tried to visit him once. There were bodyguards guarding his door, so I couldn't go in. But I overheard his bodyguards talking about something…"
Dominic's expression immediately turned solemn. "What did they say?"
She said honestly, "They said that Victor was running a paternity test. But Victor doesn't have kids, so the kid in question is probably an illegitimate child.
"Having an illegitimate child is frowned upon within the prominent families. I never dared to tell anyone, and I hope you won't blab about this to anyone and betray me."
Dominic was momentarily lost in thought before he said, "This is Victor's personal affairs, and he's gone to great lengths to keep his personal affairs a secret. Apart from his hobbies, no one knows anything else about him—including his wife. Don't tell anyone else about his paternity test. That way, you'll be able to avoid getting into any unnecessary trouble."
