Xavier clenched his teeth, holding back his anger as he turned to leave.
In the middle of the night, Lia woke up from a nightmare. She got out of bed and went to check on Leonard, who was sound asleep. In her dream, that bullet had hit him in the head, and it had been a bloody mess.
She carefully felt around his head, relief washing over her when she realized it was just a dream.
Suddenly, Leonard weakly spoke up, "Do you... have a habit of sleepwalking while you're sleeping? You're touching me quite anxiously..."
Lia sat up straight. "No... I… I just had a nightmare."
Leonard got up and turned on the lights, brightening the entire room and banishing her fears. His hair was slightly messy, and he looked adorably sleepy—like a cute puppy.
Lia momentarily lost her train of thought, biting her lip with a mischievous smile on her face.
Leonard felt uneasy under her gaze and instinctively pulled the blanket up to his neck. "What's with that look? It's kind of scary."
Lia reached over and ruffled his hair, messing it up. "I didn't know you could be so cute! You look like an adorable little puppy!"
Leonard was taken aback. He wasn't fond of being called a puppy. To correct her impression, he swiftly pinned her down by the edge of the bed. "Who's cute? Who's a little puppy? Don't you think it's dangerous to crawl into my bed at night?"
Leonard had pinned her hands behind her back, and Lia found herself kneeling and pressed against the bed. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't break free. She pouted, refusing to back down. "Let go! That was a sneak attack!"
Leonard was pleased by the way she was squirming like a little bug. His gaze fell on her fair neck, and he unconsciously swallowed hard, feeling his heart race.
