"My husband often works late, he's too busy, and I don't want to burden him," Maja explained, pressing her hand against her temple to relieve the blurriness in her vision. She held onto the nearby railing to prevent any further misunderstandings and gestured towards Ian. "I'm fine, Mr. Raymond's car is over there. I'll send you off."

Ian gave her a slight glance, considering the previous night's events. It could have been life-threatening if she had fainted in the bathroom. However, she was still thinking about her husband. He wasn't sure if she was naive or deeply in love with her spouse. A tinge of guilt washed over him, and he suggested, "I'll take you to the hospital first."

Maja gripped the railing and descended the steps, almost losing her balance. Ian quickly reached out and pulled her back. "Maja?"

Maja had reached her limit. She had managed to stay strong in the restaurant, but now, under the sunlight, the dizziness intensified. She knew Ian was calling her, but her throat felt constricted, and she couldn't speak.

Ian felt the heat radiating from her body like molten lava. She had somehow held on until now. He reached out and touched her forehead, but as soon as his fingers made contact, he was taken aback and quickly withdrew his hand as if shocked.

They had a long-standing working relationship, and he couldn't leave her in this state. He furrowed his brow and bent down, lifting her up.

As he walked toward the intersection, a car pulled up in front of him, and Maxwell's face appeared at the rolled-down window. Unaware that Maja had taken the job, Maxwell had noticed Ian from a distance and wanted to greet him to make an impression. However, his eyes narrowed when he saw Ian carrying someone.

Ian also recognized Maxwell as the man in the elevator with Maja before. He had assumed they had a special relationship at the time. But if not, then who was the person who had slapped Maja afterwards?

Maxwell hurriedly got out of the car and reached out to take Maja. Ian narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?"

Maxwell didn't expect Ian to remember their high school experience, so he introduced himself anxiously. "I'm her boss at the studio."

Ian averted his gaze. "So, you were the one who slapped Maja that day?"

He turned around and placed Maja in the back seat of his car. "She has a fever. I'm taking her to the hospital."

Concerned about Maja's well-being, Maxwell asked, "Can I come with you? Maybe you forgot, but we were high school classmates..."

Ian didn't like letting strangers ride in his car, but Maxwell's mention of their high school connection triggered a vague memory.

"Okay."

Seeing Ian's nod, Maxwell hesitated but dared not take the driver's seat. He walked to the passenger side.

The car journey was silent, with only the faint sound of the engine. Soon, Maja's weak body slid down, and her breaths warmed the fabric of Ian's suit. Ian's entire body stiffened, and he looked at the person driving.

Unaware of their subtle movements, Maxwell honked the horn. "The nearest hospital is the central hospital. She's been there frequently."

"Is she not feeling well?"

"No, her sister has been hospitalized there."

Maxwell didn't expect Ian to continue asking, so he subconsciously replied.

Ian supported Maja, worried that she might hit her head on the window, and furrowed his brow in contemplation before placing his hand over her head.

Maxwell saw his gesture through the rearview mirror and was surprised. He had thought Ian was difficult to approach, but now he seemed considerate.

Maxwell drove quickly and arrived at the hospital in just fifteen minutes.

Initially planning to accompany Maja inside, Maxwell changed his mind when he saw her with her eyes closed, leaning against Ian's shoulder. He worried that Maja might have offended Ian somehow, as everyone knew that Ian didn't have a fondness for women. But Ian's expression remained indifferent, seemingly unaffected. Maxwell relinquished his seat.

He quickly supported Maja, sincerely saying, "I'll take her to the hospital now. When she wakes up, I'll have her thank you in person."

Ian leaned against the car and looked at Maja a few more times. His tone was flat. "Given the situation, shouldn't we notify her husband?"
