After returning to RosenGarden, Herbert unleashed a torrent of anger at Ian over the phone.

"That bastard! I wish I could punch him right in the face! I'm so pissed off. You married him, and he acts like he's the one who got the short end of the stick, running around with other women! You are my apprentice, when did it become their place to boss you around?"

Maja felt guilty. Her teacher had only hurriedly come to Greenfield for a day because of some business and had to suddenly return. He didn't like public appearances, and now he had to face everyone because of her.

Maja coughed a couple of times and took some of the medicine she had just swallowed. Her throat was hurting.

"No, my throat just hurts."

Maja couldn't answer.

Like him? That might be a stretch.

Maybe the tiny flutter in her heart was just because they had had the most intimate contact in the dark night. He was holding her so tight, as if he wanted to melt her into his body. Just thinking about it made her face blush and her heart beat faster.

Could that be considered liking him?

Probably not, as she had never wavered from her decision to divorce him.

"Does Ian like you?"

"No."
