He didn't know where he was wrong. He got bitten by Maja twice, slapped in the face, and scolded by her. But seeing her still made him happy. It was as if the joy was seeping out of every cell in his body, unstoppable. Maybe it was a form of self-destruction. The more joy he reaped from her, the more loneliness would come back tenfold, a hundredfold when she left. But he was willing to endure it.

When Maja left Greenfield Gardens, she was boiling with anger, and felt utterly helpless. All she could think about was Darlene's pregnancy, and Ian wanting to terminate it.

Her head was throbbing with pain, but she remembered to take Coco with her when she came back. She rested a bit at Rosewood Manor, and then she went to the hospital to visit Elvis.
