Quintessa felt the breathing grow heavier by her ear, and after a moment, Tyrone gritted his teeth and said, "You really want to push your luck asking me to stay the night? Not that I mind."
Quintessa wrapped her arms around Tyrone's neck, her chin resting on his shoulder, and whispered in his ear, "If you don't come over, I can't sleep."
It might have sounded like she was joking, but Quintessa knew there was a hint of truth in her words. It seemed she had indeed grown accustomed to Tyrone's midnight visits.
Tyrone felt a pang in his heart and replied through gritted teeth, "Yeah, right. As if I'd believe that."
With that, he scooped Quintessa up, making her lie on top of him, "If it weren't for the fact that I had nowhere else to crash, I wouldn't be here."
Quintessa chuckled. Tyrone could be so adorably tsundere sometimes. It was not like he had any trouble finding a place to stay. He could get into a hotel room without a key card if he wanted to, but here he was, making up lame excuses.
In the darkness, Quintessa playfully patted Tyrone's cheek, "There, there, my poor little thing. No place to go? I will take you in!"
Tyrone huffed, "Middle of the night and not sleeping, looks like you're not planning on getting better anytime soon."
Disgusted, he pulled the blanket over them.
The old Tyrone was picky about everything. If he were to stay in a hospital, he'd demand everything, from the linen to the gowns, be brand new, not being able to stand the slightest hint of disinfectant.
But now holding Quintessa, he surprisingly found it wasn't all that bad. What mattered was being with her.
In this weather, cuddling together wasn't exactly cool, but Quintessa felt a sense of comfort in the silent night she hadn't felt for many years.
