Every Breath You Take novel Chapter 139

Monica had returned to China for several months. Leon originally thought that he could handle the matter of the factory well in three or five days, and go back to China to accompany her after that. Unexpectedly, this matter became more and more serious. Later, he was reported to the court by the workers and could not leave America at all.

During these days when Monica was in China, Roland had called Leon to tell him all kinds of troubles that Monica had gone through. Leon was concerned about Monica every day. He only hated himself for being unable to accompany her and take care of her. Fortunately, Roland had been taking care of Monica on behalf of him, which made him feel a little relieved.

Now that the things in the factory had been basically settled, he planned to go back to China in a few days.

After work this day, Leon did not go home. Instead, he came to a villa in the suburbs.

He bought this villa last year, and he intended to let Monica live here with Coco. Because it was located in the suburbs, the air here was very fresh. It was the most suitable place for Coco to recuperate.

When Leon bought this villa, Old Mrs. Gu had not yet agreed to his marriage to Monica. He thought that he and Monica would not be together in this life. He bought this villa because he didn't want Monica and Coco to be homeless. Now that Old Mrs. Gu had agreed to their marriage, he was so happy that he immediately re-decorated the villa. He planned to live here with Monica in the future.

Now, the villa had been renovated, and the gardener had planted a lot of flowers in the garden. There was a large area planted with roses. Leon planned to propose to Monica in the Rose Garden when she came back.

This day, Leon came here for those roses. He also wanted to say goodbye to Mary, who had been helping him to take care of the garden.

A few months ago, after Mary was rescued by Leon, she stayed in the hospital for nearly a month. Her wound was healed, but her memory still hadn't come back.

When Mary was found by Leon, her wallet and ID card were already taken away. There was nothing to prove her identity, and she couldn't remember who she was, so Leon had to take her out of the hospital and temporarily let her live in his company's staff dormitory.

During a chat, Leon learned that Mary liked flowers and plants very much. Thinking that he had planted a lot of flowers and plants in the villa in the suburbs, he planned to let Mary help his gardener take care of his garden. He also hoped that the environment could help her restore her memory as soon as possible.

When Leon came to the villa, Mary was watering flowers in the garden.

The sunset rays shone on the ground, and the evening glow made the sky colorful. Mary was wearing a long pale pink dress and standing amidst the beautiful flowers with her dark hair. The sunlight gilded the ends of her hair and the train of her dress, as if she were a fairy in a painting.

Seething this, Leon, who was standing outside the fence, was stunned. He didn't regain consciousness for a full minute.

If he hadn't known clearly that Monica was in China at the moment, he would have thought that the fairylike beautiful woman in the flowers was her.

This woman who had lost her memory looked so much like Monica!

While he was in a daze, Mary raised her head and smiled at him. "Leon, you're here!"

"Yes." Leon came back to his senses, pushed open the door and walked in.

Mary put down the flower shower and came forward to welcome him. She pointed at a rose tree and said with a smile, "Leon, you're here at the right time. The rainbow roses are blooming. How beautiful they are!"

Leon looked in the direction she pointed and saw two flowers blooming from the rose tree. The colors of the flowers were very strange. They were made up of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple.

These roses were called rainbow roses, also known as seven- colored roses and happy roses. The language of them were romance, dream, happiness, gorgeousness and nobleness. Besides being colorful, these roses gave off a sweet smell. This kind of rose was very rare. Leon asked the gardener to cultivate it with great care, to express his deep affection for Monica.

Seeing the peculiar color of the rainbow roses, Leon excitedly went over and bent down to smell it. "Sure enough, this kind of rose is really too beautiful."

Mary looked at Leon's handsome face with a smile and suddenly felt a little disappointed. She had heard from the gardener that Leon had a fiancee. He planted rainbow roses to express his love for his fiancee. She really envied that woman. Leon was handsome, smart, kind and brilliant. How happy it would be to marry him!

"Jadey, thank you." Leon straightened up and thanked Mary gratefully. Leon named her Jadey because she had a jade pendant.

"Leon, you are too polite. These flowers were raised by the gardener with great efforts. I just helped to water them." Mary blushed slightly and felt embarrassed for her gaffe just now.

How could Leon know what Mary was thinking? He thought she was shy. He just praised her and she blushed. He had a good impression of her. It was rare to find such shy girls now.

Thinking about it, he couldn't help but say, "Jadey, you look like a woman."

"Really? Who is she?"

"She is my fiancee." At the mention of Monica, Leon was happy and his eyes were full of smiles.

Mary was surprised. "Your fiancee?"

Leon smiled and said, "Yes, her name is Monica. Your eyes and mouth look a lot like hers, but she's probably a few years older than you."

"Monica?" Mary frowned and felt that she had heard of this name somewhere.

Leon noticed Mary's abnormality and hurriedly asked, "Jadey, what's wrong with you?"

Mary hesitated for a moment and said, "I seem to be very familiar with this name."

"It's not surprising. The gardener and others must have mentioned her to you!" Leon did not believe that Mary would know Monica at all. He thought that it was the servants in the villa who told her about Monica. All the servants here used to work for the Gu family. It was not surprising that they knew Monica and mentioned her to Mary.

"Maybe." Mary knew that the people here had never mentioned the name of Leon's fiancee to her, but she didn't think too much, because she thought that she couldn't have known Leon's fiancee.

After enjoying the roses, Leon helped Mary to water the flowers. Then, the two of them went into the house and sat down on the sofa. Leon told Mary that he was going back to China. He took out his mobile phone and said to her, "Jadey, sit down. I'll take photos for you."

Mary felt strange. "Why?"

"I'm going to let my friend investigate your identity. In addition, I'm going back to China soon, so I can also investigate it myself." These days Leon was too busy with the factory to help Mary find out who she was. He planned to take Mary's photos to Roland and ask for his help.

Mary was overjoyed and hurriedly adjusted her hair and clothes. She sat upright and asked Leon to take photos for her.

Leon raised his mobile phone and took two photos of her. After chatting for a while, he went back to Gu Residence.

After returning home, Leon decided to make a phone call to Monica and tell her that he was going back to China.

Monica sounded a little tired. Leon immediately noticed it. "Moni, are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Monica smiled. "No, I'm fine."

"You have to take care of yourself. You are pregnant and you have to take care of Coco. Don't be too tired." Thinking of how hard she was, Leon felt distressed. He reminded her to look after herself before hanging up the phone.

Leon was still a little worried. He immediately called Roland and asked about Monica's condition.

"I was going to call you!" Roland said in a serious tone. He told Leon what happened to Jenny and how Lassie blamed Monica.

Leon was shocked. "How could this be? Moni wouldn't do that."

Roland said, "I also believe in Monica's character. She is kind-hearted. No matter how much she hates a person, she won't do such a cruel thing. She must have been framed."

"Does Quarmy believe her?" Quarmy was filial, so Leon was really worried that he would vent his anger on Monica.

"Quarmy and Monica used to be a couple. He knows Monica better than us, so he naturally trusts her." Although Roland had never had a good impression of Quarmy, he felt relieved after knowing how much Quarmy trusted Monica. He didn't hate Quarmy as much as before.

Leon agreed. If Quarmy didn't know Monica well, he didn't deserve to be her husband at all.

Roland added, "Quarmy and I are now investigating this matte. We're making progress on this."

Leon breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. I will return to China in a few days. Let's prove Monica's innocence together."

"Okay, let's talk about it when you come back."

At dinner time, Leon told Old Mrs. Gu that he was going back to China. He also told her that Jenny was injured and in a coma. He was afraid that Old Mrs. Gu would be worried, so he did not mention that Monica had been framed.

"Alas, what a pity." Old Mrs. Gu had always been merciful. Although she hated Jenny fro robbing Coco, she immediately forgave her and felt deeply sympathetic to her after hearing what happened to her.

Mandy, who was sitting next to her, said angrily, "Hum, what's so pitiful about that kind of person? Back then, she treated Monica in such a way and took Coco away regardless of his illness. She deserves it."

Old Mrs. Gu glared at her discontentedly. "What are you talking about? She's so miserable now, but you're still gloating."

"Grandma, I said it for Monica!" Mandy muttered and did not dare to say anything else. In fact, she had already heard about this from Madrigal. She also knew that Quarmywas suspicious of Monica and was resentful of her for it. Leon's eagerness to return to China must be because of this.

Mandy was really happy when she heard from Madrigal that Quarmy and Monica had fallen out. She hoped that Quarmy would never forgive Monica. However, she also worried. She hated Monica so much that she wanted to kill Monica. Naturally, she didn't want Monica to be with Quarmy. However, if Monica and Quarmy turned against each other, Monica would probably go back to Leon, which made Mandy even more difficult to accept.

Leon was going back to China for Monica, which made Mandy even more anxious. The dinner was tasteless to her because she had been thinking about how to prevent Leon from leaving.

Because of this, Mandy had no appetite. After eating for a while, she put down her bowl and sat on the sofa to think. While she was thinking, Leon's mobile phone on the tea table suddenly rang. Mandy picked it up and saw the name "Jadey". When she wanted to ask Leon who Jadey was, Leon got up and took his phone away. Mandy was curious, so she listened carefully. She heard Leon call that person Jadey in a gentle voice. Then he said, "Oh, keep it for me. I'll go get it when I come back. Thank you." After that, Leon hung up.

Mandy deliberately asked, "Leon, who called you? Why do I feel that it's a woman? Don't tell me you cheated on Monica." Leon hurriedly explained, "What are you talking about? I left my watch at the villa in the suburbs when I went there to take care of the roses. The gardener found it and called me."

"Leon, don't lie to me." Mandy smiled and said, "I saw the name of the person. I don't believe that you would save a servant's number."

"Jadey is not a servant. She is helping me take care of the flowers and plants in that villa. That's why I said she was a gardener."

"Who is Jadey?" Old Mrs. Gu put down the bowl and chopsticks and came over. Hearing what Leon said, she became interested.

Leon had to tell them the story of saving Mary.

Old Mrs. Gu smiled gratifiedly and said, "My grandson is really kind. Speaking of which, this girl is really pitiful. You should help her find out her identity as soon as possible so that she can restore her memory."

Leon smiled and said, "Grandma, that's what I'm going to do."

These days, Old Mrs. Gu's attitude towards Mandy had become much colder. Mandy was trying her best to please Old Mrs. Gu. Hearing that, she immediately said, "Leon, give me Jadey's photos. I'll let my friends ask around to see if anyone knows her."

Old Mrs. Gu gave Mandy a look of approval and said, "Yes, Mandy knows a lot of people. You can let her help you."

Leon's face darkened. "No, we can't post Jadey's photos online." "Why? It's the easiest way." Mandy was confused.

Leon said, "Have you forgotten what I just said? When I found Jadey, she was injured. Judging from the situation at that time, it seemed that she was being hunted. If I post her photos online, it may be noticed by her enemy. I can only let people investigate this matter secretly."

Mandy nodded. "You're right. How about this? My good friend Linda's husband is a private detective. Give me Jadey's photos and I'll let him investigate her secretly."

"Well, that's a good idea. I thank you for Jadey." Leon said as he took out his mobile phone and sent Mary's photos to Mandy.

Mandy picked up her phone and looked at it. She couldn't help but cry out in surprise, "Leon, why does this Jadey look so similar to Monica?"

Leon smiled and said, "Yes, I feel the same way. If I didn't know that Monica didn't have a sister, I would have thought Jadey was her sister."
