Every Breath You Take novel Chapter 73

When Monica woke up, it's already dawned. She had a terrible headache and couldn't open her eyes. The sunlight made her eyes even more uncomfortable.

She closed her eyes slightly. At the moment, she was still a little unconscious. She could smell a faint smell of Cologne. Why was this smell so familiar?

She searched in her memory, but could not remember where she had smelled it. Her head still hurt. She raised her hand to rub her forehead, but unconsciously she touched something hard.

Her body tensed because of the temperature of it, and the memory of last night flashed in her mind. She screamed and suddenly opened her eyes.

An enlarged handsome face appeared in front of her. She saw definite features, a prominent nose, and a pair of passionate eyes that could engulf her. After seeing it more clearly, Monica screamed again.

"Argh!"

"What are you shouting for?" A familiar voice rang out. There was a hint of teasing in Quarmy's eyes.

"You... Why are you here? Quarmy? What are you doing here?" Monica was so surprised that she couldn't speak clearly.

"Why am I here? This is my home. Do you understand?" Quarmy rested one hand on the back of her head and the other on her waist. She could even feel his hot breath on her face.

"Your home?" Monica stared at him in disbelief. Quarmy's eyes were full of smiles. He stared unblinkingly at her exposed snow- white skin. "Monica, after so many years, you're still the same as you were before!"

Monica's face suddenly turned red. She used to like to sleep in his arms, now she was attached to him as tightly as before.

She could feel the warmth coming from his body without any hindrance. They were both naked!

Monica was both shy and angry, wanting to slap him. Quarmy quickly grabbed her hand. She couldn't free herself, so she cursed, "Quarmy, what have you done to me? You son of a b*tch! How can you be so shameless?"

Quarmy frowned slightly and held her hand tightly. "A single man and a single woman in the same room... no, the same bed. What do you think I can do?"

Monica's heart sank. Crap! "Quarmy, you're an animal! How can you do this to me?"

Thinking that she had slept with this disgusting man, Monica felt ashamed. She reached out to push him, cursing and struggling.

However, how could she get rid of Quarmy's imprisonment? He hugged her tighter and tighter. She could feel the change in his body. His thing was stuck tightly to her leg.

The embarrassment and anger made her tears roll down unnaturally. Quarmy looked at the tears at the corners of her eyes and involuntarily let go of his hand. The person he had been thinking about all the time was in his arms. However, he could not do anything to her. One could imagine how much pain Quarmy was in his heart.

It was not that he didn't want her, but he was afraid that she would hate him more. He tried his best to suppress his desire and held her tightly for a night.

His release allowed Monica to take the opportunity to slap him viciously in the face. "Pa!" The slap was crisp. There were immediately five clear fingerprints on Quarmy's face. He stared at her in shock. "You hit me? You actually hit me?"

"So what?" Monica glared at him. "You hooligan! I must call the police to arrest you!"

"Are you out of your mind?" Anger surfaced on Quarmy's handsome face.

How could this woman be so ungrateful? If he had not saved her last night, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

"Aren't you out of your mind?!" Monica mercilessly pushed him out of bed. Only then did she discover that he was completely naked. Moreover, he was having an erection.

"You hooligan! Get out!" Monica's face turned red with embarrassment.

Quarmy got up from the ground and looked at her without any cover. "You seem to be mistaken. This is my home. If anyone's going anywhere, it's you."

Monica glared at Quarmy. "Quarmy Huo, why am I here? Did you trick me and get me here?" Quarmy's beautiful eyes revealed a hint of anger. "I got you here? Monica, are you really insane? I don't believe you don't remember what happened last night at all!"

Monica suddenly shut up. She could still see the ugly faces of those men last night, but she couldn't connect them with Quarmy.

"Do you remember anything?" Quarmy raised his brows slightly. There was no emotion in his pitch-black eyes.

"I..." A look of fear appeared in Monica's eyes as she quickly recalled what had happened last night. She remembered that she had run out of that room and been knocked unconscious in an alley. How did she appear beside Quarmy?

"Let me tell you. Your so- called boyfriend is a middleman in the AV business. You were betrayed by him and I saved you!"

"How did you know that?"

"How did I know that?" Quarmy's face darkened. On the blind date that day, when he saw Evan and Monica playing games, he felt that something wasn't right. A normal person's reaction at that time must've been to take care of himself first, unless he loved Monica to the extreme.

Evan and Monica never met before, and he also didn't believe in love at first sight. If so, why did he have such a great affection for Monica?

The only possibility was that he was acting, and the so-called fall was just to win Monica's sympathy so that she could choose him.

So he asked Noah to investigate Evan, who hid himself well. His real name was Bill and Evan was just a fake name. It had taken a lot of time to find out his real identity. When Noah delivered Evan's real information to Quarmy, Quarmy immediately drove to find Monica. However, she had disappeared with Evan.

Quarmy located Evan's cell phone and immediately found his location. Evan actually took Monica out of the city. Quarmy informed the police and followed them all the way. They found Evan's car in an old residential area. The police searched one area after another. Hearing Monica's call for help, they rushed over.

Finally, they rescued Monica and caught four people on the spot. However, the principal criminal, Evan, disappeared. The police were arresting him in the whole city. Quarmy took Monica back to his residence.

"Why did he do this to me?" Monica didn't understand. Did he go to the blind date for making her do porn? Why did she feel that things were not so simple?

Quarmy sneered. "Destruction pursues the great. Don't you know that you're already very famous?"

Monica glared at him angrily. She had actually forgotten that she didn't wear anything at all. She lifted the blanket and was about to climb up. When she saw Quarmy's surprised gaze, she pulled the blanket over and wrapped it around her body.

Quarmy's gloomy expression had turned into a smile because of her actions. "Seriously? Which part of your body I haven't seen before?" Monica's face turned red. "Rogue!"

He put on a serious look. "Your clothes were wet, so I took it off for you. I don't have a woman's clothes here, so wait for a moment. I've already asked someone to send some clothes here." After saying this, he put on his pajamas and left the room.

Watching him leave, Monica dejectedly leaned on the bed. Her head was in a lot of pain, and her mind was in a mess. "Why is it that he witnessed every one of my most embarrassing moments?"

She had forced herself to be strong in front of him just now. In reality, she was really scared. If something had really happened last night, what was she going to do?

If she died, what would happen to Coco?

After some time, she heard the doorbell ringing. Not long after, Quarmy appeared at the door with a bag in hand. He threw the bag on the bed and said, "Your clothes!"

After that, he turned around. Monica looked at the clothes on the bed. The eye-catching logo startled her.

In the past, she had stuck to this brand because Quarmy liked it. Now that Madrigal would also wear this brand of clothes, she felt a little humiliated, but there was no other way. She couldn't go out naked.

Her hands had no strength at all. Not only did her head hurt, but she also felt dizzy. It took her a long time to change her clothes. She felt as hot as a furnace. She felt thirsty and her throat dry. She must have caught a fever.

She knew very well that she needed to see a doctor at this time. Her clothes and purse were not with her. So far, she could only rely on Quarmy.

She didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore. Quarmy had once said that she was no longer his woman, so she couldn't trouble him anymore. She had to rely on herself.

She struggled to open the bedroom door. Quarmy sat on the sofa and heard the sound. He turned his head to look at her.

He bought the clothes according to her size, but why were the clothes obviously too big for her? This woman was indeed thinner. He was very sad, but his voice was still cold. "I have already ordered breakfast. It will be delivered soon."

"Thank you, Mr. Huo." Monica tried her best to act as if nothing had happened. "Mr. Huo, please lend me your phone."

Quarmy's head ached after hearing her businesslike tone. He speechlessly handed the phone to her.

Monica's hand trembled as she dialed Summer's number. "Summer, come pick me up."

She didn't know where this place was, so she looked at Quarmy and asked, "May I ask where this place is?"

Quarmy stared at her for a few seconds and calmly answered her. Monica repeated the name and then hung up the phone.

She passed the phone to him and thanked him. Quarmy snorted. "Why are you standing there? Are you waiting for me to invite you to sit down?"

She didn't want to stay a minute longer in front of the man, especially after experiencing such a thing. She had already lost her dignity, but she still tried to maintain her self-esteem as much as possible.

"Thank you for last night. I should get going!" Then she turned around.

A trace of helplessness flashed through Quarmy's beautiful eyes. She was still so stubborn and unyielding, not willing to admit defeat. Would it kill her to show a little weakness? He asked, "Are you leaving just like that?"

Monica turned her head and said, "I will return the clothes to you."

Looking at her indifferent face, a fire burned in Quarmy's heart. How could she still be okay with something that big? Did she know what would have happened if he hadn't saved her? A fire was burning in his heart. "What's the use of giving me the clothes you've worn? Throw it away!"

Monica was so overwhelmed by his words that she couldn't breathe. Her head was dizzy and painful, and her vision was black. She didn't have the strength to argue with him. She staggered to the door and opened it to go out.

She felt like she was exhausted, but there was a determination in her heart. Summer would definitely come to pick her up as soon as she received the call. She just had to hold on until Summer came.

Monica held the wall and walked slowly to the elevator. It was only a short distance. Usually, it would take only a few steps to get there, but she felt it was so far away. Her feet were as heavy as stones. It took her a lot of effort to move a step. She finally moved to the door of the elevator and raised her hand to press the button of the elevator, but she could not control herself and fell down.

Looking at Monica's determined back, Quarmy let out a dejected sigh. He patted his head in annoyance. He already knew that she was very stubborn, so why couldn't he forget to stimulate her?

As long as he thought that she didn't give him a chance to explain and had disappeared without any news for three years, he felt that he couldn't forgive her and stay calm.

Hearing her leaving footsteps, he couldn't stay in the house, so he got up and chased her. From a distance, he saw a person lying at the elevator door. Quarmy's eyes widened. He rushed to her and ran outside with her in his arms.

Monica suffered a great shock and had a high fever. Quarmy's heart ached for her red-hot face. It was all his fault. He loved spending time with her so much that he forgot to send her to the hospital last night.

Summer drove to the address Monica gave her, but she couldn't find Monica anywhere. So she dialed the number that Monica had just called her, only to hear Quarmy's voice. She was stunned and thought that she had called the wrong number. Quarmy told her that they were on the way to the hospital. After hanging up, Summer rushed to the hospital.

When Summer arrived, Monica was taking intravenous drip. Quarmy was waiting by the side of the bed anxiously. Seeing him holding Monica's hand, Summer rushed forward. "Hey, what did you do to Moni?" "Keep your voice down!" Quarmy said with a rare good temper. "Something happened to her."

"What happened to her? Moni went on a date with her boyfriend yesterday, why is she with you now? What the hell do you want? Isn't enough for you to hurt her by cheating? Do you still want to prevent her from being happy?" Summer had no good impression of Quarmy at all, so she said it directly.

Quarmy did not retort. What happened last night was not a good thing for Monica. He had specially informed the police station to block off the news. He was afraid that it would have a bad effect on her if it was leaked out.

Although Summer was Monica's good friend, it would still be troublesome if she found out about this. Therefore, he chose to be silent in the face of Summer's question.

Based on Quramy's attitude, Summer was convinced that he was to blame. "Quarmy, you can leave now. You're not welcome here!"

How would Quarmy be willing to leave? Summer said angrily, "Are you leaving or not? If not, I'll call your mistress and ask her to get you out of here!"

While they were arguing, Monica woke up. When Summer saw it, she stopped attacking Quarmy. "Moni, how do you feel?"

"Water!" Monica felt her throat was so dry that it was almost smoking. Quarmy immediately poured a glass of water for her. Monica drank it up and felt better. Summer took the glass from her hand. "Did he bully you?"

Monica shook her head and looked at Quarmy. "Thank you, Mr. Huo, for sending me to the hospital. I'm fine now. You may leave first!"

Quarmy stood still. Monica had no choice but to drive him out. "I want to talk to Summer. Please."

Quarmy hesitated for a moment, but he still didn't want to leave. Summer ordered without any politeness. "Hey, didn't you hear that? Hurry up and leave!"

"I'm outside. Call me if there's anything you need." Quarmy turned around and left the ward, but he didn't go too far away.

"What happened? Why are you in such a state?" As soon as Quarmy left, Summer couldn't wait to ask.

"Summer, I thought I would never see you again... Evan... He... He's not a good person!" Monica's eyes reddened.

"Evan hit you?" Summer first thought of violence.

"No!" Monica explained what happened last night to Summer in an inarticulate manner.

Summer was furious. "Bastard! This bastard! If I see him, I'll skin him alive and pull out his sinews!"

She was terrified after thinking about it. It was fortunate that Quarmy had just passed by. Otherwise, things would have gone out of control. It was just that why would Quarmy appear there by coincidence?

"Why would Quarmy be there?"

"I don't know either. I didn't ask." After Monica woke up, she was shocked, scared, and ashamed. How could she think about this? Summer thought for a while. "Why do I feel that this is not so simple? There is no enmity between you and Evan. Why did he plot such a big trap to frame you? Is there any chance that Quarmay is the one behind this matter? Otherwise, why would he appear there so coincidentally?"

"Quarmy schemed against me?" Monica was stunned and immediately shook her head. "He's not that despicable."

"Don't put in a good word for him. How good could a man that cheated on you during a marriage be?" Summer had no good impression of Quarmy at all.

"What's his motive?"

"His motive is very simple. You humiliated him. He's got to get it back." Summer reminded.

"Is that so?" Monica still didn't quite believe that Quarmy would do such a thing.

"I just want to remind you that humanity is sinister. Based on what he's done before, you have to be careful of him. You can't be grateful to him because of this. Remember, it's his fault that you become like this!"

Monica nodded. "I know. Don't worry, I won't have anything to do with him!"

Summer did not believe that Evan would set up a trap to harm Monica, neither did Quarmy. He also suspected that someone was behind this as well. He naturally thought of the Wang family as to the relationship between Monica and Roland.

Although Roland's reputation was not good, he was a treasure in Old Mr. Wang's heart. Old Mr. Wang would never allow his precious grandson to have anything to do with a divorced woman. However, this was just a suspicion. He had no evidence, so he could not say anything in front of Monica. He just had to be alert. In order to prevent something like this from happening again, he had to pay more attention to this woman.

He asked Noah to keep an eye on the Wang family, and investigate whether Evan was instructed by them. After the phone call, he found that there were several missed calls from Madrigal.

He called her back with a frown. "What's the matter?"

Madrigal's soft voice came, "Are you free tonight? Mom bought fresh seafood, and she invites you and Aunt Sun to have dinner together."

"I'm not!" Quarmy replied.

He refused directly and decisively. Madrigal had to hang up the phone and shouted to Lancy, who was in the kitchen. "Lancy, you don't need to buy seafood tonight."

Yale heard the voice and came downstairs. "Why not?"

"He said he didn't have time to come over." Madrigal leaned back on the sofa and answered listlessly.

"Is he that busy?" Yale did not believe it.

"It's just an excuse. Didn't he often take time to accompany her to dinner when he was so busy?" Madrigal was unwilling to give up after thinking about it. "Mom, didn't you say that you would deal with Monica? Why hasn't there been any news yet?"

Yale glared at her and then looked at Lancy, who was busy in the kitchen. She lowered her voice and said, "It's not the time to talk about this."

"I'm anxious!" Madrigal said with a bitter face. "I won't be at peace until it's settled."

"Don't worry, we'll have news in the next two days." Yale seemed to have a well-thought-out plan.

"Mom, what have you done? Can you tell me?" Madrigal was very curious.

"You don't need to know, but if this thing works out, that b*tch will be ruined. She'll never be able to take your man." Yale lowered her voice. When she saw Lancy coming out of the kitchen, she stopped the topic and told Lancy, "Go and buy more seafood. I want the best."

Lancy agreed and went to the market. After she left, Madrigal asked Yale curiously, "Quarmy won't come over. Why did you ask her to buy seafood?"

"I have my reasons." Yale smiled in a sinister way.

In the evening, Zoe came back a little earlier. When he entered, Yale gently took his bag and went to make tea. After Zoe sat comfortably on the sofa, Yale came over with tea and said, "Have you gone to see Moni recently?"

"No!" Zoe answered. That day, he went to find Monica and asked her to stay away from Evan, but was rejected. After that, he didn't go to see her again. Thinking of Monica's attitude at that time, he felt a little depressed. "Moni is too cruel! She doesn't care about her father at all!"

"It's because she's still mad at us. We let her down first, so is normal for her to hate us. You have to be closer to her. As time goes on, she'll naturally forgive us." Yale persuaded. "No matter what, she can't joke about her marriage. Look at the guy she is dating. Does he deserve her?" Zoe got angry at the thought of it.

"So you have to persuade her!" Yale looked like a virtuous stepmother. "I asked Lancy to buy fresh seafood today. You can give some to Moni, and take this opportunity to talk to her. After all, she is your child, and you can't just leave her alone!"

Yale acted as if she was caring about Monica. Zoe was very satisfied with her performance and went out with fresh seafood.

Madrigal had been watching it. She couldn't understand why her mother did this. Yale hated Monica more than herself. Why did she ask Dad to send Monica seafood? However, Yale had her own reasons for doing things. Seeing Lancy busy herself in the living room, Madrigal didn't dare to ask.

It didn't take long for Zoe to come back. Seeing the seafood in his hand, Yale stepped forward in a gentle voice. "Moni didn't want it?"

"No!" Zoe sat down. "Moni is sick. She is in the hospital now!"

"Then let's go visit her." Yale looked worried.

"Let Lancy make some soup. I'll go to the hospital."

"Lancy made chicken soup tonight. Take it and go visit her quickly." Yale immediately went into the kitchen and put the chicken soup in a thermos bottle. Zoe took it and hurried out.

After Zoe went out, Yale and Madrigal sat on the sofa waiting for news after dinner. Madrigal could not help but lower her voice. "Mom, we made it?" Yale nodded and said, "I think so. But why didn't he call me to ask for the final payment?"

As she spoke, her cell phone rang. She picked up the phone and looked at it. Then, she immediately got up and went into the bedroom. Madrigal also followed in.
