In response, Kai smirked at her before answering, “If you're hoping to get to know more about Tobias from me, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Not even his own brother knows exactly what kind of person he is, so why would I? To be honest, our family is a little more complicated than most.”

Skylar rolled her eyes at him when he presumed to know what she was thinking. “That's not why I asked the question. I was just curious why your family didn't help a relative in need.”

“Well, if you ask me, the relationship between relatives doesn't mean much to me. We'd be no better than strangers to each other if my family didn't have to depend on Tobias.”
