"Manley," Estelle sat up, her eyes clear yet helpless, "Even without Jonathan Lamont, we should keep our distance."

"Cut it out!"

Manley stopped her, "I get where you're coming from, and you shouldn't feel the burden. Don't worry about what I think. If you want to treat me as a friend, then so be it!"

He paused, his handsome eyes losing some of their sparkle, and murmured in a self-deprecating tone, "I know, you're just pissed because I kissed you, that's why you're digging up all this stuff again."

Estelle was taken aback and looked down.

Manley's captivating eyes appeared clear and gentle. In a comforting tone, deep and low, he said, "It was my fault. I acted on impulse and offended you. I promise it won't happen again."

Estelle shook her head, "Why do you even bother?"

Why was Manley so into her? She couldn't figure it out. They didn't have much interaction before. His act of risking himself to save her on Kulha Mountain was already a surprise. For the past two years, he had been following her around the world, leaving her clueless about what to do.
