Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 2089

Xavier's heart skipped a beat, and a tingling sensation spread through him.

He instinctively leaned back, pulling his shirt down to cover his bare, broad shoulders. "I'm fine. You can go back now."

"I'll leave when I'm ready," Norah retorted as she put the medicine away and looked at him seriously. "Why did you get shot? Are you mixed up with some kind of gang? Are you going to keep getting into fights?"

Xavier fixed his gaze on her. "Scared?"

"Yes!" Norah held his gaze. "Scared you'll end up dead!"

Xavier was taken aback.

Norah pursed her lips, "I don't care about your past, but from now on, I want you to stay out of trouble. Live a good life, okay?"

Xavier wanted to argue that this was who he was, but seeing the redness in her eyes, he simply nodded slightly. "I know my limits."

As adults, especially Xavier, with his wealth of experience and maturity, he didn't need her preaching. Norah tucked him in, "Rest for a while. I'm leaving."

"You don't have to come all the time. I don't mind your visits, but you should have your own life. Besides," Xavier searched for the right words, "your frequent visit might cause rumors and harm your reputation."

He knew from the uproar online that ruining someone's reputation didn't require the truth, just a trending topic and someone to stir the pot.

Especially since she was from the Lamont family, if someone with an agenda decided to use that against her, how would she withstand the gossip?

Norah didn't seem to care. "You think Damian and your guys can't see what's going on?"

Xavier was momentarily stunned.

Blushing, Norah stood up. "I'll head back now. It's Monday tomorrow. I'll come over after work and bring you something delicious!"

Xavier was speechless, leaning against the headboard with a wry smile on his face. "Am I a child to you?"

Norah's eyes shone as she looked at him. "It's been a long time since I've seen you smile."

Xavier's eyes twitched with an awkward feeling.

"I'm off!" Norah waved, gave him one last look, and walked out the door.

Leaning against the wall outside his room, Norah let out a long sigh, feeling an urge to cry.
