Darren immediately said, "I've failed in my duties as a father, causing you so much trouble. Regardless of how he's judged in the end, I won't make any appeals on his behalf."

Gabriel's voice was low, "I gave him a chance."

"I know, I know!" Darren nodded continuously. "I've been so caught up in work and neglected my duties as a parent. I'm well aware of Baron's temperament; it's my fault for not keeping him in line."

Gabriel said, "I won't pursue Baron's matter further, but as for how you handle this internally, I can't intervene."

"Your not pursuing it is already a great mercy to me!" Darren said. "I'm Baron's father; I bear responsibility for his actions. Whatever the higher-ups decide, I won't have any complaints. I also promise you, from now on in J City, no one will dare target Ms. Jarvis."

"That would be for the best!"

"I won't keep you any longer then!"

Gabriel hung up the phone and took a moment on the balcony to smoke a cigarette before heading back to the bedroom.

As soon as he lay down, Sylvia snuggled up to him, resting her head on his chest.

Gabriel looked down at her sleeping face for a moment before pulling her closer into his embrace.

The next day, just like every morning these past few days, Sylvia got up early to make breakfast.

The breakfast spread was different each day, but always delicious and made to a high standard.

While eating, Gabriel said, "Baron's situation has been resolved."

Sylvia had no doubts about his capabilities and smiled, "Thank you."

Sylvia continued her meal, sipping her soup.

"Also," Gabriel looked up at her, "I won't be accompanying you to the office today."

Sylvia paused for a moment, then smiled warmly. "You've been here for a few days now; Old Mr. Jarvis must be worried. You should spend some time with him."
