Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 2301

Was Sylvia able to keep her brother around?

She watched as Grandpa stepped out of the study, emerging from Jonathan Lamont’s embrace, “Let’s head back!”

Back in the living room, everyone resumed watching the evening show. At ten o'clock, Old Wade came over, handing Old Mr. Jarvis a box.

Mr. Jarvis pulled out four intricately carved mahogany boxes from it, chuckling, “Wade and I are off to sip some tea and chat in the room. These are your New Year's gifts. I’ll leave them here. They’re labeled with your names, so feel free to divide them amongst yourselves.”

Sylvia Jarvis knew the gift was pricey the moment she laid eyes on the boxes and was hesitant to accept such an expensive gift from Old Mr. Jarvis. She was about to stand up and politely refuse when Gabriel grabbed her hand.

Holding her wrist gently, he whispered, “You must accept anything Grandpa gives. Don't upset the old man.”

Sylvia didn’t dare to object any further.

Old Mr. Jarvis, with a warm smile, stood up and addressed Sylvia, “This is our first New Year together as grandfather and granddaughter. It’s a tradition for elders to give gifts to the younger ones. Gabriel is right, you must accept it!”

Sylvia felt a warmth in her heart and gratefully said, “Thank you, Old Mr. Jarvis!”

With a nod and a smile, Mr. Jarvis advised, “Wade and I are off to have our tea. You kids have fun but don’t stay up too late. Get some rest early.”

They all stood up to see Mr. Jarvis off, who waved his hand and slowly walked out, with Old Wade waiting outside with a lantern. The two elders gradually walked away together.

Gabriel handed Sylvia her New Year's gift, “Let’s see what Grandpa got you?”

Holding it in her hands, it felt heavy, and she was filled with an indescribable feeling. This was the first time she had ever received a New Year's gift in her life.

Back when she was with her foster parents, the family was poor, and only the biological children received New Year's money; she never did.

So, for her, this was a very special gift.

She decided to keep the box closed, looking at Gabriel, “Since it’s a New Year's gift, I’ll open it tomorrow.”

She was a bit reluctant to unveil it.

Gabriel responded, “That’s fine.”
