Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 486

Emily's face turned pale with anger. "How could she do this? Who does she think she is, deciding my fate?"

Estelle and the rest of the group turned their attention towards her.

Gina spoke up, sounding guilty. "It's your sister-in-law who's at fault. Your brother even fought with her, urging her to give back the money to the Frey family. But she admitted to spending it and refused to return it! She also threatened to end her relationship with your brother if you don't drop the charges. I had no other option but to call you!"

Gina's voice choked, "Emily, can you just let this go? Consider it as me begging you! I'll make your sister-in-law give you 20,000 dollars as compensation for the wrongs you've suffered, and you can ask Mr. James to call off the lawyer. We won't pursue this anymore!"

Emily stood there, utterly at a loss, her heart aching. She didn't know what to say anymore.

Today was her birthday, and her mother and brother had both forgotten. They called her, asking her to let go of the person who had hurt her for the sake of 300,000 dollars and Crystal.

She didn't know when it started – probably when their old house was sold – her home was gone, and her mother and brother had changed.

"Emily, I know you've been wronged. I have 10,000 dollars here. If you're willing to let Mr. James's lawyer drop the case, I'll give you the money as compensation," Gina continued to persuade over the phone.

Tears welled up in Emily's eyes as she sobbed, "Mom, Charlie is trying to seek justice for me. Do you understand?"

"I do, and I am grateful for Mr. James in my heart. But I've heard that Mr. James is involved in causing this incident. He's doing it for both you and himself," Gina replied softly. "Besides, we've already received compensation, so let's just leave it at that."

Emily's voice turned cold as she responded, "Compensation? I'm the one who was hurt, yet Crystal gets the compensation? How does that make any sense?"

Gina pleaded, "Emily, she's your sister-in-law and part of our family. Can't you let it go? Emily, you've always been the sensible one!"

Emily took a deep breath, her eyes brimming with tears. "Mom, just because I'm sensible, does that mean I have to keep enduring the pain?"

"Emily, do you really have to be at odds with your brother and sister-in-law?"

Emily replied, "Yes! I won't care about their past matters, but for this matter, I must! Let Crystal return the money to the Frey family. Her receiving money from them, being threatened by them, are her own issues! She has no right to call the shots for me! I won't withdraw the lawsuit, and I will definitely make Nora and the others go to jail!"

After saying this, she hung up the phone, and her tears streamed down at the same time.
