Fragments of Desire: Marigold's Silent Departure novel Chapter 4

Marigold's cheeks suddenly blazed.

Her head buzzed as if it was about to explode, and her body started to stiffen.-

She hadn’t expected the guy on the phone, with his fierce tone, could look so refined and neat. Merely standing there casually, his handsome presence was striking, making people hard to look away.

But his cold and aloof aura he excluded kept her from getting too close.

He seemed to have just finished showering, his short hair still slightly damp, his brows and eyes were tinged with chilliness  and laziness.

Marigold nodded, her face flushed as she said, "It's me."

"Follow."

The man uttered a word and turned to walk into the elevator.

Marigold, all stiff and embarrassed, her head buzzing as she followed him.

The place was designed as a high-end apartment complex, with two units per floor. Exiting the elevator, Lennon unlocked the door with his fingerprint.

With a "beep," he pulled open the door. He spoke in an unconcerned tone, "Come in."

Marigold swallowed hard and nervously stepped inside.

The room felt enormous to her, around 200 square meters or so. The interior, with a singular grayscale tone revealing a subdued, extravagant taste in the fine details.

She heard these apartments cost a fortune, housing only high-fliers, which was evident even from the luxury amenities from the lobby below. Average Joes would probably need years to afford it.

Marigold stood at the entrance, shrinking back timidly.

Lennon closed the door, opened a cabinet in the entryway, and tossed her a pair of disposable slippers, which Marigold obediently changed into, setting her feet inside.

In the living room, the man lounged on the sofa, leaning back slightly, legs crossed, a lazy and casual posture.

His eyes surveyed her from head to toe, blatantly scrutinizing her, making Marigold feel like an item being appraised.

The man didn't speak, so she didn't dare to move.

Standing straight in the living room, she kept her head down.

Until the man commanded, "Take off your pants."

What?
