From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent (Anthea ) novel Chapter 440

"Is that all? Piece of cake," Anthea said, her voice tinged with nonchalance as she swiftly drew a knife across the lamb's belly, slicing open a crimson line before deftly peeling off its skin.

Despite the gruesomeness of the task at hand, Sherman found a certain peaceful harmony in the act, as if it underscored the tranquility of simpler times.

Catching his gaze, Anthea looked up slightly. "You're not going to look away?"

"Why should I? If a girl like you isn't bothered, why would I be?" Sherman replied, twirling a lighter in his fingers.

"But aren't you a vegetarian?" she probed.

Sherman's tone was light. "Just looking won't hurt."

"Then, could you fetch a large platter from the kitchen? I want to carve out the best part of the loin."

"Sure thing."

With that, Sherman headed to the kitchen.

It seemed Anthea was probably the first person to ever boss Sherman around like this.

And yet, Sherman didn't seem to mind at all.

After grabbing the platter, Sherman asked, "Anything else you need?"

"Grab me a pair of scissors, will you?"

"Alright."

And just like that, Anthea had Sherman running errands all morning.

By half-past ten, Anthea had dissected the entire lamb.

The innards were discarded, along with the head, leaving them with about eighty pounds of meat.

For lunch, Anthea planned to whip up a lamb stew and then grill some lamb chops!

Considering Sherman's vegetarian diet, she decided to prepare a spicy mushroom noodles for him, paired with a side of cucumber salad.

With that plan in mind, Anthea set to work.

Soon, the kitchen was filled with the tantalizing aroma of grilled lamb.

Tasting a piece of the grilled lamb chop, Anthea was satisfied with the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The juices burst in her mouth, almost making her wish she could swallow her own tongue along with it.

Wild mountain lamb indeed!

The flavor was spectacular!

Anthea squinted her eyes in pleasure.

Sherman, standing outside the glass door, raised an eyebrow.

Were the lamb chops really that good?

Once the lamb chops were ready, Anthea started on Sherman's spicy mushroom noodles and her own lamb stew.

Both the mushroom and lamb broths had been prepared in advance.
