Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 134

I wish he were Patrick as well, but he could never be. What he could give September was never the kind of warmth or happiness she wanted.

I lowered my head and looked at Joel drowning in his own grief. His eyes were still as cold as ever.

In a woman's life, she would meet two men-

One would let you know what it felt like to fall flat on the ground, while the other one did all he can in his power to prevent you from falling.

Apparently, Joel was the former, and Patrick was the latter.

I left Anthony at home and went to the company. When I got off work in the evening, I received a phone call from an unknown person calling to ask for payment.

He said that the apartment I had rented had been three months behind on rent. The lock of the apartment was changed, and he had to call me.

I suddenly remembered Ramiro. When he signed the contract, he left the landlord with my number. I was a little surprised and said, "I'll be right there."

When I arrived, the landlord looked at me helplessly and said, "You were also there when we signed the contract. Your friend gave us the deposit, so we can't pry the lock. But I gotta collect the rent. Do you think there's anything you can do?"

"I'll pay you whatever he now owes you, and then I'll contact him myself. If he still wants to rent the apartment, I'll give you the rent."

I took out the money to pay the landlord. He was satisfied and left.

After he left, I pulled out Ramiro's number from the phone, but no one answered no matter how many times I called him. I was a bit worried as I stood at the door looking at the password lock that Ramiro changed. What was he thinking right now? Did he still want to rent this house?

I looked down at his cell phone number and then at the password lock. I felt bored and decided to put in the last six digits into the lock.

It miraculously opened.

I looked at the ajar door in shock and hesitated for a while before finally deciding to go in. The smell of garbage and instant noodles permeated the air along with a smell that I couldn't make out, which made me want to retch.

Ramiro lay on the sofa dispiritedly. There were a lot of empty bottles of alcohol around him. From the looks of it, he must have been drunk.

I opened the window, and the dark space immediately lit up. Ramiro turned over and opened his eyes with a sound of "D*mn".

When he saw me, he opened his mouth and said with a smile, "Where have you been? How's our daughter?"

He rubbed his temples and I said, "Our daughter? Watch that mouth of yours, little f*cker."

"I'm her godfather. Of course, she's my daughter," he said.

Ramiro sat up straight. I dodged his question and asked curiously, "What have you done for the past half year? You look like a hobo."

Ramiro said in an indifferent tone, "Running my business, well, my unsuccessful business, I'm sure you can tell. Did the landlord call you? Did you pay for the rent?"

"Yes, you were behind on your rent so the landlord called me." I put down my handbag and tidied up the room for him. Seeing that it was too dirty, I couldn't help but say, "This is literally a f*cking s*ithole."

Ramiro smiled and said, "What can I do? I ain't got a wife."

"Do you have some misunderstanding about what a wife does?"

Ramiro looked at me and smiled. He said, "Right, a wife should be spoiled and, well, you know what to do with." He said as he cast a sidelong glance at his lower body.

I rolled my eyes at him and began to clean up the room. It took me two hours to clean up the room. I sat down to have a rest and asked Ramiro, who had just come out of the bathroom after a shower. "Do you need money?"

"I do indeed. Pay for another three months' rent for me." Ramiro looked at me with his phoenix eyes and said after a long time, "You're more beautiful."

I was stunned for a moment before glaring at him.

Ramiro patted me on the head like I was his hound. He said, "Give me five grand."

He retracted his hand, and I asked, "That's it?"

"Yes, three months of rent and three months of food." Ramiro pursed his lips and said with a gloomy face, "Everything I have tried to do was subverted by my dad. But I'm still not quitting."

I knew Ramiro was not one to quit. Whatever he wanted to do, he had to do it, even if it would make his life arduous and difficult. Some pictures flashed through my mind. However, I couldn't grasp a single one of them.

But I knew they were about Ramiro.

What was he like back then?

I took out a bank card from my handbag and handed it to him, saying, "There are a few dozens of grand in it. Take it."

Ramiro took the card and asked with a smile, "When did you become so generous?"

"You are gonna have to pay me back, plus interest," said I.

Ramiro asked, "Do you have cash?"

I glanced at the cash in my handbag and explained, "I've just paid the rent for three months. There's only a thousand or so left."

"Go to the bank with me."

Ramiro returned the bank card to me and said stubbornly, "I only want 5,000. If I have too much money, I'd just drown myself in alcohol and women. Poor days make me wanna fight for it." "Poor days as in eating instant noodles?' Ramiro said disapprovingly, "Instant noodles taste good."

Ramiro was the son of a rich family, yet he was bent on fighting. Even if his days were so miserable, it was just like... the me of the past.

Just like how I refused to return to the Shears family.

Ramiro was also reluctant to go back to his own family.

I went to the bank with him before treating him to a great meal. Seeing him gulping down the food made me feel sorry for him.

I asked, "What are you going to do next?"

Ramiro said in a muffled voice as his mouth was stuffed with food, "Investing."

"With what?" I was confused.

"Resources." Ramiro said with great enthusiasm, "I have some business that have not yet launched. It will be much easier when I find an investor."

"Do you want me to invest in it?"
