Benjamin's fiancee, Edith.
Edith Shears and Emma Shears.
He didn't even bother to find another woman whose name started with a different letter.
I suddenly understood that I seemed to have become a substitute.
Had he been obsessed with another woman for so many years?
I felt embarrassed when I thought of this, but then I felt that it was totally uncalled for. After all, it was just a deal.
Benjamin and I were nothing but business partners in all of this.
"Emma, remember that you are not a substitute for anyone, and you are no one's punching bag. You are Emma, Mrs. Dunn." He said quietly and firmly: "You are my woman."
He clearly knew that what we had was nothing but a deal.
But he said something that made me think too much.
I looked at the night outside the window, and asked nervously, "When Coral said that I was replaceable, did she mean that I was someone you used to replace your fiancee, Edith?"
"Yeah, but you are not replaceable." Benjamin explained in a cold voice: "I was never devoted to her. After her, I would have women and women who would replace her."
The woman who replaced her now was me.
But I was not the woman Benjamin liked!
Yes, for a woman who had been dead for five years, Benjamin had no reason to mourn for her, but why did I feel so painful in my heart as if a swarm of ants was chewing off my heart bit by bit.
It was a kind of pain I couldn't bear.
I resisted the pain in my heart, bent my body and nestled in the passenger seat Benjamin's face turned cold when I saw that I didn't speak.
When we were about to reach Elysia, I remembered what he had said before, and looked at him and asked, "How do you know what Sean said about me?"
Sean's voice was so small that only he and I could hear it.
Benjamin frowned, his hand knocked on the steering wheel. He turned his head and glanced at me sharply, and mocked: "I've known Sean so long that I know he would do whatever in his power to mock you till he could totally destroy you!"
No wonder Benjamin called me back to his side again after Sean came to me for two or three minutes.
"He didn't mock me. What he said was the truth, and because of September, he was a little sensitive to what I said."
I thought for a while and said, "You are the one who told him about our bet so that he thought I looked down on him from the bottom of my heart."
Hearing this, Benjamin smiled and said: "Fool."
I retorted: "You are the one who did this, don't you think you are the fool in all of this?"
Hearing my words, Benjamin gave me a cold look so I quickly reached out my hand to cover my mouth and dared not say any other things.
It was quite early when we returned to Elysia Apartment. I was hungry and had to cook dinner in the kitchen.
While Benjamin went straight back to the bedroom.
I took out a piece of cake I made yesterday from the refrigerator to fill my stomach and took a bottle of yogurt out..
I glanced at the ingredients in the refrigerator, took out pieces of ribs and washed them with hot water, preparing to make sweet and sour ribs.
And two more side dishes.
It took nearly an hour for the food to be prepared, and I bowed my head and smelled it, feeling quite good about myself.
I put the dishes in the plate, Benjamin sneaked up to me from outside the door, put his arms around my waist, and asked softly, "What are you making?"
Was he blind? Those were clearly
I rolled my eyes at him: "Sweet and sour ribs."
Benjamin sniffed at my neck, I tilted my head, and he pressed my head and printed the thin lips on my cheeks.
I blushed, Benjamin put my earlobe at the tip of his tongue, and said vaguely: "Smells really good."
I knew what he wanted to do.
I quickly squatted down and dodged away from him. He smiled and said, "Fool."
I squinted at him and brought the dishes to the table.
After dinner, I went to the balcony to tidy up the plants, but I did not expect to accidentally drop a pot on the neighbor's balcony.
Cursing came from below immediately.
I poked my head and apologized, but the neighbor didn't let it go. He stared at me fiercely, as if he wanted to fight me.
I retracted my gaze in horror, and hurriedly ran to the study room and asked, "Benjamin, what should I do? I seem to have made a big mistake."
Benjamin closed the laptop and asked, "How?"
"I just accidentally dropped a pot of plant on the neighbor's balcony, and he has been cursing me from below!"
I looked at him for help, Benjamin couldn't help but curled his lips. He put out his hand and said, "Nothing I can do about it. Did you apologize?"
"I said I was sorry but he didn't seem to care! He is that kind of man in his forties, I don't think he's gonna let go of this easily!
"He has been cursing down there?" Benjamin frowned, and said in a light tone: "It looks like he will come upstairs to find you soon!"
How could he be gloating?
"Are you really enjoying this?" I looked at him suspiciously and reminded him: "You are the owner of the apartment, if he comes up, it would not be for me but you."
Benjamin stood in front of me and stretched out his hand, rubbed my head, and said in a low and deep voice: "How could I be enjoying this? You are my sweetheart."
