Gorgeous Couple’s Sweet Love novel Chapter 93

I interrupted her. "What are you talking about?"

"Ha, why are you so nervous? I'm just kidding. By the way, do you still remember Kayla?"

Kayla was my roommate back at college. She'd got along pretty well with me.

It was just that she went back to her hometown to develop after graduation.

Puzzled, I asked, "I remember. What of her?"

"She's divorced. She's been living in City B recently. In an office in City B, and she's got a kid with her."

Everyone has their own hardships, and that included Kayla.

I paused and said, "Let's have dinner together when she has time."

After hanging up the phone, I went back to the office and suddenly remembered that I had something to talk to Laurelie about. But after all, I didn't see her.

Bob told me, "The girl is still in Glestin."

He reminded me in silence, "She's probably gonna come back to the police station this afternoon."

Seeing the arrogant look on Bob's face, I felt amused. I stretched out my hand and patted him on the shoulder, laughing and saying, "You've investigated her whereabouts thoroughly. Do you still dare to say that you don't love her?"

Bob slapped away my hand and said with slanted eyes, "Tonight, let's go to Zack's house."

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"It's my birthday. Zack's cooking dinner." Bob stretched out his hand and hooked it around my shoulder. Tilting his head, he said, "Remember to prepare a gift."

Speaking of this, I forgot all about it.

After work, Benjamin made a call to him. "Need me to pick you up?"

I hesitated and said, "I have something to do. It's Bob's birthday."

Benjamin lowered his voice and asked, "Are you saying that you won't come home soon?"

"Mmhm," I said apprehensively, "Just wait for me at home."

Benjamin directly hung up the phone, and I took it as a yes.

September came to pick me up after work.

We went to a mall and I bought a black tie for Bob.

September saved a lot of trouble for herself by buying a watch for him.

Before we went to Zack's apartment, we met Joel. After the meeting in the next building, he happened to see September's car on the side of the road.

He waited for about ten minutes.

I looked at September, who was as calm as still water, and then at Joel, whose eyes were filled with helplessness and sadness. I carefully waited at the side.

I saw the two of them arguing from afar. At that time, Joel seemed to be explaining something, but September directly raised her hand to stop him.

She seemed pretty agitated and excited.

Her raised hand was as if an armor she put on herself, fending Joel away.

The two of them argued for two to three minutes. Then September turned directly into the car. She stopped the car beside me and said in a hoarse voice, "Get on the car. Bob and the others are waiting."

The atmosphere in the car became tense. After a moment of silence, I said, "Are you really not gonna give Joel a chance?"

September remained silent for a moment before coughing violently. Her hands trembled as she parked the car on the side of the road. It was a very uncomfortable sight to see her bending over.

Panicked, I asked, "What's going on?"

I placed a hand on her back and patted her.

She coughed for a while and stretched out her hand to hold my palm. She said softly, "It's okay, but I can't get too worked up. Don't mention him in front of me in the future. He is the past to me now."

I was silent and didn't dare to mention Joel again.

September calmed down for a while and started the car again. It began to rain heavily in City B when we got to Zack's apartment.

She parked the car in the garage and went upstairs with me. After knocking on the door, it was Teresa who opened the car as if she were the hostess.

Both of our faces turned dark when we saw each other. Then, I heard Victoria's voice call out, "Sis, who is it?"

Teresa turned around, sat down beside Victoria, and said, "A pair of flies."

I pursed my lips and chose to remain silent.

I didn't want to argue with her on Bob's birthday, so that I wouldn't make things awkward for Bob.

September threw the gift to Bob and went to Zack's bedroom to sleep. Her mental state seemed to be very poor.

I went in and covered her with the blanket and said, "Take a rest first. I'll wake you up later when dinner's ready."

September gave a faint smile and closed her eyes. Feeling a little uneasy, I reached out to feel her forehead. Her body temperature was normal.

Maybe it was because she hadn't been sleeping enough lately.

I gently closed the door and went out. Bob blinked at me and fixed his eyes on the kitchen. I followed his line of sight and saw Teresa helping Zack from one side, acting as if she were a gentle and careful wife.

I sat down at Bob and asked in a low voice, "Are you very familiar with them?"

"Bulls*it, not at all." Bob said in a low voice, "It must be Teresa trying to get close to my Zack and used me as an excuse."

I sighed, and Bob sighed as well. I handed the birthday gift to him and said, "That's really some bulls*it luck."

Bob was so depressed but he couldn't get rid of them. He stayed in silence for ten minutes with his eyes wide open. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Confused, Bob got up and went to open the door.

He asked in confusion, "Why are you here?"

Laurelie handed the flowers in his hand to Bob and said, "Happy birthday."

Bob took it in confusion, and then he saw Laurelie saying to the man next to him, "Brother, go back, I'm already here, what could happen?"
