Jared looked utterly disinterested, "My job right now is to be your assistant. All I've got to do is nail that."
Agnes couldn't help but feel a sting in her heart at his dejected appearance.
After lunch, they returned to the office.
To her surprise, a crowd had gathered at the entrance of Agnes's office.
Even colleagues from the adjacent department had joined in.
Agnes had no clue what had caused the commotion.
Approaching, she asked, "What's everyone doing here?"
Carroll from the marketing department exclaimed, "Agnes, who sent you all these roses? It's so over the top, and each rose has gold edges. They must've cost a fortune!"
Agnes's brow furrowed slightly.
But before she could enter, Jared had already stepped into the office ahead of her.
Indeed, there was a huge box of roses.
It sat on Agnes's desk, almost covering the entire surface.
The delivery guy was still there, seemingly waiting for their return.
Agnes stepped in and inquired, "What's all this about?"
The delivery guy asked, "Are you Ms. Pritchard?"
Agnes nodded.
"These roses are from Mr. Whitfield. Please sign here to receive them."
Mr. Whitfield?
Agnes's first thought was Jared.
But seeing Jared with a frown beside her, she quickly realized who it was.
Agnes told the delivery guy, "Please take the flowers back. I can't accept them."
The delivery guy looked troubled. "Ms. Pritchard, there's no precedent for returning these. You just need to sign here."
