Agnes couldn't shake the feeling that it was all too coincidental, too bizarre. It was as if some unseen force was manipulating the events unfolding around her.
After a moment of silence, she asked, "How can we prove Jared's innocence?"
Jarvis replied, "The employees at NovaPlex Labs are mostly intellectually challenged and deaf-mutes. It's impossible to get anything out of them. The only way to clear Mr. Whitfield and the Tim Group's name is to thoroughly investigate and catch the fugitive chemist."
Hope flickered in Agnes's eyes. "Do we have any leads on this chemist?"
"None. No one's even seen what he looks like. Catching him will be no small feat."
Agnes's heart sank once more.
Jared was released on bail. But his freedom was heavily restricted. He was confined to the boundaries of Willowbrook Town, constantly under the watchful eye of the police, ready to be summoned or investigated at any moment.
Rumors had severely impacted the Tim Group's businesses. Their stocks had plummeted. The situation was escalating.
Alyssa returned. Agnes and Jared went back to the Whitfield Manor.
During the car ride, Agnes spoke up, "This is clearly a setup against the Tim Group, against you, Jared. Could it be..."
She left the name unsaid, but Jared's brows furrowed in concern. "Soon enough, we'll find out," he said.
They arrived at the Whitfield Manor, its lights shining brightly in the dark. The patriarch was away, leaving only Alyssa who had returned.
