Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1057

Agnes also saw Ryder.

Ryder stood at the door, not stepping inside. Beside him was his suitcase, making it evident that he had just returned from a trip. Since she had left the Tim Group, she hadn't been home for two weeks.

When Alyssa saw Ryder, she froze briefly. However, even though he overheard her earlier words, he didn't show any sign of guilt.

Alyssa walked straight over, getting right to the point, “Can you swear that you have nothing to do with what's going on at NovaPlex Labs? That you had no idea they were involved in drug trafficking?”

It felt like a thorn was lodged in her heart. If Ryder was behind this, who would be more devastated than him?

Ryder’s voice was cold and detached, as if he was unwilling to defend himself. “If you think it's me, then let it be me,” he said before taking his suitcase upstairs, not bothering to say another word.

Alyssa felt an immense sense of discomfort, unable to discern whether she had wronged Ryder. Ryder had always been aloof and reticent, even in the face of false accusations.

But was it really a false accusation this time?

Watching Ryder’s retreating figure, Agnes felt as if her heart was being pricked by needles. Ryder might have always appeared distant, but deep down, he was a warm-hearted soul. When had he become so cold?

Jared spoke up, “I’ll go talk to him.”

After Jared left, Agnes accompanied Alyssa back to her room. After trying to console her for a bit, Agnes left and bumped into Jared in the hallway. His head shake told her everything – Ryder wasn’t in the mood to talk.
