Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1116

Agnes said, "These past few months have felt like a complete nightmare."

And indeed, it was a nightmare, a sort of hell on earth filled with loss and heartache, as if they had endured every possible sorrow.

Jared responded, "Just think of it as a bad dream, Agnes. You're awake now, and things are going to get better."

Leaning on Jared's shoulder, Agnes whispered, "I just wish for a calm and peaceful life from now on, without any more turmoil."

By the time they reached Serenity Hall, dusk was settling in.

Nocturne had just finished taking a therapeutic bath. Lately, Nocturne was more lucid than ever, having spent a considerable time at Serenity Hall, thankfully with Esther's company.

Agnes visited the old man. She wanted to take Nocturne back home for a while. Indeed, they had been apart for too long. The old man agreed. Given Nocturne's unexpectedly rapid improvement, he only prescribed some essential tonics. However, because Nocturne still needed regular acupuncture and therapeutic baths, he could only stay for a fortnight. But for Nocturne, this was still a joyous occasion.

Esther, learning Nocturne was leaving, felt a deep sense of loss. Being the only child in the herbal clinic and fostered there since memory, Esther rarely had the companionship of another child her age.

Agnes noticed Esther sitting alone, morosely playing with some herbs. Walking over, she squatted down and gently pinched Esther's cheek, "Esther, how would you feel about coming with us?"

Esther's eyes sparkled as she looked up, "Agnes, can I really come with you?"

With a smile, Agnes said, "I've already spoken to your master. If you're willing, you can live with us for a while. After some time, you can return with Nocturne."

Esther was overjoyed. She hugged Agnes tightly, "I wish you were my mom."

Agnes felt a pang of sorrow. Esther had never known a mother's love and yearned for it deeply. The old man mentioned that Esther's father had visited just yesterday but left after a short while. Esther's father seldom visited, only taking her out occasionally. Beyond that, the furthest Esther had ever been was just outside Serenity Hall's alley. Agnes found Esther both adorable and pitiable and wanted to show her the world outside.

Thus, Agnes took Esther and Nocturne back to the city. Upon their arrival, Leo picked them up. Leo had recently returned to The Tim Group. Shockingly, during the few months of Leo's absence from The Tim Group, he had gotten married. They hadn't had a wedding ceremony but chose to elope instead. The bride was none other than Sharon.

Agnes had sensed something brewing between Leo and Sharon and had mentioned it to Jared, who was skeptical at the time. Now, with Leo announcing his marriage to Sharon, Jared was astonished but also genuinely happy for them. Feeling a sense of guilt towards Sharon, Jared had always treated her like a sister, and Leo was his most trusted friend. Their union brought Jared joy.

By the time they arrived at Maplewood Manor, it was quite late. However, near the entrance of Maplewood Manor, they spotted a small figure, seemingly a child, an unexpected sight that piqued their curiosity in the quiet night.
