Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1117

But spotting a lone kid without the company of his parents made Agnes take a second look. And to her surprise, it was Sprague Bradford standing at the doorstep of Maplewood Manor.

What on earth was Sprague doing here all by himself, wearing what seemed like his school uniform, shivering from the cold, with a backpack slung over his shoulders?

Agnes immediately had the car stopped.

Jumping out, she approached Sprague, "Sprague, what are you doing out here all alone? Where are your folks?"

Sprague glanced up at Agnes, then quickly averted his gaze, refusing to speak.

Seeing his reluctance, Agnes was about to call Kerri Bradford when Sprague quickly intervened, "Agnes, please, could you not contact my parents? I'm... I'm running away from home."

Agnes was taken aback. Running away from home?

She didn't know what had transpired, but with the sky darkening, she suggested, "How about you come home with me for now, and we can talk it out later?"

With nowhere else to go, Sprague agreed and followed Agnes back to her car.

Upon entering the car, he saw two little ones asleep in the backseat - Nocturne and Esther, with Esther nestled in Nocturne's arms, both sleeping soundly.

Sprague was familiar with Nocturne, but it was his first time seeing Esther. Curiously, he asked, "Agnes, since when did you get another sister?"

"Oh, Nocturne has been staying at a local clinic recently, and Esther here is a friend from there, keeping Nocturne company for a few days," Agnes explained.

Sitting next to them, Sprague remarked on seeing Esther, "She's so cute, it brightens up the mood just looking at her."
