Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1119

Esther could dress herself without any help. Sprague, too, had been independent from a young age. After quickly getting dressed and washing up, he headed to the dining room.

Esther's breakfast was a special oatmeal porridge that Agnes made just for her. Sprague, on the other hand, was eating a milk sandwich. Esther eyed Sprague's sandwich, her mouth watering with envy.

Sprague offered his sandwich, "Want a bite?"

But Esther shook her head, "You eat. I can't have that."

Instead, she focused on her porridge. Agnes was relieved. Ever since Esther got sick from eating too much chocolate, she had learned to be careful about what she ate.

Agnes explained to Sprague, "Esther has a unique condition. She can't process sugar well, and too much of it or anything too refined could make her really sick."

Sprague withdrew his hand, looking at Esther sympathetically, "That's tough. There's so much great food she'll miss out on."

Esther continued with her porridge, looking a bit forlorn.

Soon after, Kerri and Brayden arrived. Kerri hurried over to Sprague, "Sprague, let's go home."

Sprague's voice was muffled, "Mom, can we leave this place? Let's go back to the Capital. I'd rather sleep in a hospital dorm than stay here. I don't want Dad. I don't want to be the little lord of the Simonds family. I just want to be with you."

Sprague had always lived with Kerri. He still had unresolved issues with Brayden, refusing to acknowledge him as his father.
