Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1124

So, Esther and Agnes teamed up to bring lunch into the study.

Nocturne still stood respectfully facing the wall.

Sprague was lounging on a nearby beanbag, engrossed in his handheld game console, occasionally taunting Nocturne.

Esther hurried over, saying anxiously, "Bro, Agnes isn't mad anymore. Come on, have something to eat."

Nocturne turned around, catching Agnes's eye, and understanding the cue, he began to eat his lunch.

Despite his hunger, Nocturne always ate with impeccable manners.

The trio spent a while in the study.

Eventually, Sprague and Esther decided to take a nap.

Nocturne stayed awake.

He had taken an energy-boosting bath earlier, which made him feel more alert than usual.

He couldn't bear to waste this precious time and started looking for a book he liked in the study.

Only Agnes and Nocturne remained in the room.

Agnes approached Nocturne, "What are you reading?"

Nocturne closed the book to show her. It was Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail."

Agnes couldn't quite grasp her son's taste in literature.

She ruffled Nocturne's hair, "I didn't mean to keep you from eating on purpose."

Nocturne, flipping through the book, said nonchalantly, "I know. It's like a roundabout way of discipline. You aimed at me, but the lesson was for Esther. She's young but stubborn. This was the only way to make her listen."

Agnes laughed, "Are you sure you're not from another time? You seem to know everything."

"Mom, stop reading those time-travel novels. They're all make-believe."

After chatting for a while, Agnes left.

The next day, Agnes took the three kids to visit their grandmother.
