Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1128

Seeing Agnes so resolute, Riley didn't feel right pushing any further.

Riley said, "Well, since we're laying it all out there, I'll just be blunt. It's all about Elton's marriage. I was hoping you could talk some sense into him."

Agnes frowned, "I'm not quite sure what you're getting at."

Riley explained, "I know Elton did you wrong back in the day, and it breaks my heart what happened. But Agnes, ever since then, it's like Elton's a changed man. He's thrown himself into his work and avoids dating like the plague. It's become a real worry for his dad and me. Call us old-fashioned, but with the Taylor empire, we need someone to carry on the legacy. His dad's health is failing, and I'm at my wit's end, which is why I thought of you."

It seemed Agnes had anticipated what Riley was going to say.

Agnes replied, "How can I help? He and I have nothing to do with each other anymore."

Riley said, "I was hoping you'd talk to him. You know, sometimes it takes a heart to heal a heart, and you're his ailment. Only your words might reach him."

Agnes chuckled, "How could I possibly be his cure? Aunt Riley, I'm married now. Honestly, I came today to check on you and Uncle, but as for Elton, we've become strangers, living our separate lives."

"I know, and that's why I feel so awkward asking this, but we've tried everything over the years, and Elton just can't move on. It's like he's still stuck in the past, unable to look forward. We're just clutching at straws here."

Agnes's face hardened.

Seeing Riley's helpless and pleading look, Agnes said, "I'll talk to him, but whether he listens isn't something I can guarantee."

Riley's face lit up, "Agnes, you're such a good soul. Elton really missed out on not marrying you."

"Aunt Riley, let's not talk like that anymore. Everyone has their own destiny; Elton and I just weren't meant to be," Agnes responded.
