Although these thoughts plagued his mind, Elton couldn't help but wonder, if only he hadn't been so foolish back then, would Agnes be in his arms now...
"Mr. Taylor," Jared caught Elton zoning out at the doorway and couldn't help but call out to him.
Snapping back to reality, Elton regained his composure.
"Gentlemen, Godfather is waiting in the study to discuss some matters with you," Elton informed them.
"We'll be right there," Agnes responded, though his tone carried a hint of worry.
Without another word, Elton turned and left.
Agnes looked especially concerned as he spoke, "Godfather must want to talk about the Kearney and Phenix situation. It's quite a predicament we're in now."
Indeed, it was a difficult position to be in.
Kearney's actions were unforgivable, yet Phenix now saw him as Sean.
Dealing with Kearney would be like losing Phenix all over again.
And Phenix had already been through the pain of losing Sean once.
Reggie, no doubt, would find it hard to be merciless.
But regardless of Kearney's reasons, his guilt in Sean's death was undeniable.
