Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 772

The station head looked up at her, "Don't fool me, Yolanda. Your promotional scripts were all rejected by the Tim Group. You know you're not cut out for this. Why not delegate it to others?"

Being underestimated by the station head, Yolanda felt frustrated. Yet she dared not talk back.

The station head continued, "Alright, you may leave. The situation with Agnes can wait. It's a small matter whether to keep her or not, but it's not worth it if she offends Mr. Whitfield. And about your promotional video, if it doesn't turn out well, I'll have someone else take over. This is a major project, the Tim Group has set a high price of 30 million for us. You know the TV station is not doing well in all aspects, you better not ruin it for me."

Exiting the office, Yolanda was still seething. Agnes had played her behind her back. And now, she couldn't even dismiss her directly. Yolanda felt like she was going to lose control.

Upon returning to the News Department, everyone was discussing the matter. Hearing their words only added fuel to her fire.

The staff of the News Department never really respected her as the director, thinking she landed the role through connections, lacking real talent.

When Agnes joined, their disregard for her escalated.

Agnes was packing up to leave for the day, and Yolanda walked straight over. She slammed a file onto Agnes' desk, shouting, "Agnes, you like field assignments, right? Well, there's a case in Harmony Hollow. There's a holdout family refusing to cooperate with the government's demolition. Your task is to investigate the situation and write a report. I want it on my desk first thing tomorrow morning."

With that, Yolanda stormed off to her office. A loud bang echoed as she slammed the office door.

A moment of silence filled the office.

Then Ramona spoke, "The director is deliberately making it difficult for you. Harmony Hollow is a low-income neighborhood, and the government is planning a major demolition. Only an old couple remains, refusing to leave. They've stacked up propane tanks, threatening to blow everything up if forced to move. This has been the toughest case for the past six months. Our previous journalists came back empty-handed. One even got hit on the head with a shovel. No one dares to interview the couple now. It's obvious the director is intentionally making things hard for you."

The others chimed in, "The director is way over the line. It's clearly personal."

"Exactly, she's taking personal vengeance. She even went so far as to tear up someone's paper. That's just ruthless."

"Well, she is the daughter of the Bowmans and the station manager's daughter-in-law. With such a strong backing, how can Agnes compete?"

Everyone looked at Agnes with sympathy, but Agnes was already engrossed in the file Yolanda had thrown at her.

Harmony Hollow? A holdout family? Agnes found the news intriguing.

She picked up her camera, "I'll go check it out."

Ramona warned, "Agnes, you're really going? That old couple is notorious for their fierce resistance. It's dangerous for you to go alone, especially after work hours."

Agnes smiled, "It's okay, I'll be careful."
