At the North Star Complex...
Feng Tianyi wheeled his wheelchair out of the elevator while the twins walked closely next to him. Behind him, their bodyguard looked around, checking for any signs of dangers that could harm the little buns, but there was none.
They were on the 20th floor of the North Star apartment complex, which was several blocks away from the cafe where Feng Tianyi and the twins meet every morning.
The apartment complex looked normal and decent. Although Feng Tianyi could stay with his mother in her mansion, he valued peace and quiet and preferred to live a simple life, away from everyone's prying eyes.
For someone who'd known the previous Feng Tianyi, they wouldn't believe that this man sitting in a wheelchair was the same man who terrorized their lives and destroyed the businesses they worked hard to build for years single-handedly.
Feng Tianyi unlocked the door of his apartment and let the twins and the bodyguard in. The twins looked around his place while he went to the kitchen to check his fridge, thinking of a meal he could cook for his guests.
"This is where you live, Uncle?" Xiao Bao asked curiously.
"En, this is where I live." Feng Tianyi said.
Xiao Bao then checked the stack of books in his living area. He was reading the cover of a couple of books placed on the coffee table.
"Qin Jiran? Is this your name, Uncle?"
Feng Tianyu hummed. It was actually the pen name he used for his books.
"Ah, so the unnamed uncle is called Uncle Ji!" Little Star laughed.
The apartment was more than enough for a man like Feng Tianyi. Everything he needed was here and if there's anything else he might need, his cousin Song Fengyan was just next door to help him out.
It was almost dinner time and they have waited for a long time at the ER while he was treated for a mild burn.
"Do any of you have any allergies or the sort? I'm going to cook dinner," he called out to the little buns who are literally roaming around his home.
"Nothing, Uncle Ji!" Xiao Bao responded with a wide grin in his face.
"Uh, great, now I'm Uncle Ji," Feng Tianyi muttered to himself and allowed the children to look around while he busied himself preparing their meals.
He might be crippled, but Feng Tianyi was still able to make his own meals, bathe himself and do basic household chores without someone else's assistance. So far from the evil and cruel businessman he was, before losing his ability to walk five years ago.
"Uncle Ji, do you live alone?" Little Star joined him in the kitchen and watched him curiously as he cut the vegetables.
"Yes, but my cousin is living next door, so I'm not really alone," he said.
It was an agreement he had with his mother to allow him to live alone in this apartment. He needed someone to check on him once in a while, to make sure he wasn’t neglecting his health over his work as an author.
