Kevin was fuming, spitting fire at Evadne as if she had murdered his mother, bullied his wife, and desecrated his family's cemetery.
Jason's handsome face turned crimson at the harsh words, but Evadne seemed unbothered. Instead, her red lips curled up into a playful smile, "Well, this is interesting."
"What did you just say?" Kevin demanded, his face paling.
"I just said that Caroline is interesting," Evadne replied, reaching for another piece of chocolate. Seeing her sweet tooth, Jason couldn't help but chuckle.
"You've known Caroline for only two months, yet you're willing to risk your career and your life for her. Wow, she must be quite a catch. But let me tell you something, Kevin. You have no right to criticize me.”
Evadne's icy gaze never wavered, "And if you dare to harm the Ashbourne family's business, don't expect any mercy from me. I am not known for my patience."
Kevin was taken aback, the fear he had been suppressing surged up again. Evadne's intimidating aura was too overpowering!
"I will tell you the truth, Kevin. Caroline never loved you. She was only using you because you were an easy target."
"Stop your lies!" Kevin roared, sounding like a wounded animal, "I am the one to blame, not Caroline! You have no right to slander her!"
Ignoring his outburst, Evadne ordered Jason to turn on the TV. The screen lit up with explicit photos, featuring none other than Kevin's beloved Caroline and the President of Pioneer Post, Smith!
Jason was taken aback. He hadn't expected this. "Where did you get these?" he whispered to Evadne.
"I'll tell you later," she replied, glancing at Kevin who was on his knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Why would she do this to me?" Kevin cried, his tears falling like a torrential rain.
"You were used, Kevin. And behind Caroline, there must be someone else pulling the strings," Evadne said, her voice cold and detached.
Kevin cried even harder, his regret palpable. He didn't regret ruining his future, but the fact that he had fallen for a woman who had only used him.
"Ms. Ashbourne. I will tell you everything I know."
After a ruthless interrogation, Kevin confessed everything about how Caroline had manipulated him into stealing the business secrets. Jason recorded everything, ready to press charges against Kevin for commercial theft.
Now that they had caught the cicada, it was time to go after the mantis.
Evadne sighed, looking at her untouched desk, "I must say, he did a good job keeping everything in order. It's a shame he chose the wrong path."
"Miss Evadne, you still haven't told me."
"Thaddeus gave me the photos."
Jason was taken aback, "Thaddeus? But he's our competitor. Why would he help us?"
"Perhaps he didn't want to lose his business to Elspeth and her daughter. He probably thought that I could help him take down Glynnis."
Evadne's thoughts drifted back to Thaddeus, the man who had gently wiped her hair that night. She let out a cold laugh, "I'd rather believe in ghosts than trust that man. He probably thought that by sending an anonymous email, I wouldn't figure out it was him. How naive."
"So, Miss Evadne, now that we've removed the rotten fish from our pond, what are we going to do about Caroline?" Jason asked.
Jason couldn't help but reveal a hint of worry, "Even with Kevin's statement, without substantial evidence, we can't charge her."
"Who wants to charge her? Law can punish the guilty but it can't punish a shameless man."
Evadne's narrowed eyes flashed coldly as she looked at the naked couple on the screen, "Send these photos to Mrs. Smith, the president's wife."
"Miss Evadne, as far as I know, Mrs. Smith is good at martial arts." Jason's eyes were intriguing.
"Isn't that a good opportunity to exercise? It's like free practice training."
Evadne's slender hand once again sneaked into Jason's suit pocket, trying to grab some chocolates, "I've already taken care of her father, so let's not personally deal with her anymore, or else it would seem like I'm just as ruthless as the tycoons in those Korean dramas."
Jason suddenly placed his large hand over her pocket, gently holding her mischievous hand through the suit fabric, and gently advised, "Miss Evadne, eat less, I'm worried about your teeth."
That night, Thaddeus didn't rush back to Windermere Estate after finishing his work. Instead, he sat in his office, waiting for news from Gordon.
Finally, Gordon returned, his eyes full of joy.
"Mr. Thaddeus! Mrs. Abernathy has caught the mole in her company and has sent him to the police station!"
"Mm." Thaddeus casually responded, his hanging heart finally settling.
"I wonder if Mrs. Abernathy has used the things you sent her."
"It doesn't matter if she didn't."
Thaddeus thought of that ambitious woman, his deep eyes gaining a hint of depth, "What I gave her is just the icing on the cake. I believe with her capabilities, even without the information I gave her, she could handle this matter very well."
