After three days of confinement, Glynnis was finally set free.
Cedric had Frederic pull strings to suppress the news, but it still reached Thaddeus at the first instance.
"Why was Glynnis released? Didn't you keep an eye on Caroline? Did you let Cedric get close to her?" Thaddeus's stern face was as cold as frost, and he punched the car window in frustration.
"Mr. Thaddeus, Caroline wasn't the problem. It was Kevin!"
Gordon was so angry his eyes turned green, "Our informant relayed that Cedric, under the guise of a proxy lawyer and with Frederic's aid, visited Kevin at the detention center in secret. Whatever he said scared Kevin into taking the blame for everything, thus Glynnis was naturally cleared of suspicion!"
"What else could he have done but exploit his weakness, threatening the safety of his family! A top-tier lawyer even resorted to such despicable means!"
Thaddeus's hazel eyes were shrouded in a deep, ominous gloom, like a stormy sea before a tsunami, and his fists shook with suppressed rage. "The honorable reputation of Justice is utterly ruined by his eldest son!"
"Mr. Thaddeus, now that Kevin has become the scapegoat, isn't Caroline's situation?"
Before Gordon could finish, his phone rang.
"What's the matter?"
After listening, Gordon's face was full of concern. He hurriedly reported to Thaddeus, "Mr. Thaddeus! Bad news! Just now, the police took her away on charges of defamation and perjury!"
It was an expected outcome.
Although Caroline got what she deserved.
Still, Thaddeus's rage surged, and his eyes blazed red!
Meanwhile, Glynnis, sobbing and wailing, returned to Windermere Estate as if she had been granted a second chance at life.
Glynnis and her mother embraced and wept, performing a grand drama of maternal affection in front of Frederic and Hamilton.
Years ago, when she was an actress, her performance was mediocre at best. Now, she was an accomplished artist.
"Mom! Dad! You have to avenge me! I was completely set up by Evadne and Edith, those wicked women!"
Seeing her grandfather, Glynnis decided to take the opportunity to trample on Evadne. She ran over and knelt beside Hamilton's wheelchair, "Grandpa! Evadne wants me dead! She's so cunning and malicious! Thank God for lawyer Cedric who saved me, or you would never see your good granddaughter again!"
Faced with Glynnis's accusations, Hamilton was torn.
On one hand, he naturally didn't believe Ilana was the person Glynnis described, but on the other hand, according to the police evidence, the person who reported and arrested his own granddaughter was indeed Ilana.
The old man experienced the pain of favoring one child over another once again.
The last time was more than twenty years ago, during the years when the Abernathy Group was expanding rapidly in Elmsworth.
To quickly seize the market and expand the Abernathy Group, his two sons, Frederic and Felix, were embroiled in scandals involving bribery and irregularities in land bidding. Ultimately, due to Hamilton's favoritism and Frederic's poor health, Felix took all the blame, was imprisoned, and sentenced to four years.
Unbelievably, Felix died in prison of a sudden heart attack six months into his sentence!
The death of his younger son brought immeasurable grief to Hamilton, and his wife was so heartbroken and devastated that her health deteriorated rapidly, and they didn't get to grow old together.
"Grandpa! I've always told you Evadne has ulterior motives. She must have had a hidden agenda when she married into our Abernathy family!"
Glynnis cried on her grandfather's shoulder, "Evadne's kindness to you might just be to get something from you! Maybe she's after the Abernathy Group's shares!"
