His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire? novel Chapter 866

In the days that followed, Evadne and Thaddeus embarked on their separate missions.

Thaddeus, while not openly defying Frederic anymore, was covertly fanning the flames of public opinion. He was determined to use this scandal, this firestorm of attention, to smoke Avery out of his dark hidey-hole.

One day, as Thaddeus was preparing for a meeting, he received a call from Aviana.

"Aviana," his voice was steady and polite, approachable.

Aviana, ditching her usual sharp tongue, treated Thaddeus with a rare gentleness, even a touch of remorse.

"Thaddeus, I never got the chance to properly thank you for what happened last time. If you hadn't arrived when you did, that scoundrel Avery would’ve swindled the S-Star Group right from under us! I'm still shaken. If we’d lost S-Star Group, I don't know how my dad could go on. I'd be too ashamed to face Evadne's father."

"Aviana, you're being too polite. I did what anyone would have done."

Instead of gloating, Thaddeus remained as humble as ever, "Your acceptance, along with Chairman Ashbourne and the entire Ashbourne family, allowing Evadne and me to mend our relationship, that trust alone is worth more than I can repay in a lifetime."

Gordon, eavesdropping, was impressed.

Mr. Abernathy had evolved from stiff and rehearsed compliments to a smooth, natural flair, as if it was Mr. Fairhaven talking now.

"Thaddeus, don't say that. It makes me feel even more indebted to you."

Aviana took a deep breath, her voice firm, "I called to thank you, and to convey my father's message. He's holding a press conference tonight to disclose the recent issues S-Star Group faced with banned substances."

Thaddeus was visibly shocked, "This is serious. Please, reconsider with Mr. Griffith!"

"My father expects your concern, knowing that revealing S-Star Group's issues is like exposing our vulnerabilities to investigations from both the police and the prosecutor. But he's tired, truly exhausted. He'd rather face police interrogation, even the risk of jail, to expose the dangers of these substances to the public. Besides, given S-Star Group’s current situation, it needs a drastic change for a brighter future."

Thaddeus nodded solemnly, "In that case, Evadne and I will respect Mr. Griffith's decision. I'll also ensure additional security at the conference tonight for him."

In the afternoon, at a sanatorium of Elmsworth.

Wayne had skipped crucial meetings with other place’s leaders to rush over, breaking traffic laws along the way, arriving drenched in sweat!

"What on earth is going on?! How could my wife suddenly attempt suicide?!" Panic, Wayne grabbed a nursing worker's arm, sweating buckets.

"T-Today, after lunch, she suddenly asked to see her son."

Wayne felt his heart sank at those words.

His wife was in her early forties, and their only child, a boy in four month old, had been lost to a miscarriage when she was twenty-nine.

Decades had been passed, and her hysterical state over their child, even to the point of suicide, signaled a deep mental decline.

"At that time, a new nurse, unaware of her condition, told her she didn't have any children. She broke down, pushing the nurse out of her room and even knocked down a few old people in the hallway, then, she ran to the rooftop."

Wayne's pupils shook, his heart clenching in agony.

"But out of nowhere, Ms. Ashbourne appeared! Just in time, she saved her from jumping off the rooftop! We were all holding our breaths!" The gravitas of this incident turned into something marvelous and soul-stirring as the nursing worker described Ms. Ashbourne's heroics in admiration.

Wayne’s eyes were wide open, thinking he might’ve misheard, "What? Ms. Ashbourne?

“The girlfriend of the Abernathy group's CEO, daughter of Skyrim’s richest mogul Emeric, Evadne."
