Reinette woke up with the smell of disinfectant in her nostrils. She opened her eyes, and the blurry vision cleared up to reveal a white world.
"You're awake?"
Reinette lifted her head and saw a nurse adjusting her IV drip.
"I..."
"You fainted and have been here for an hour," the nurse said in a flat tone.
Reinette sat up halfway and looked around. It was a nice IV room and didn't look like an ordinary hospital.
"Sorry, can I ask who brought me here?"
The nurse glanced at her and raised an eyebrow. "You're lucky. You fainted in a mall with spilled coffee all over you, and a handsome guy carried you here."
Reinette finally felt uncomfortable and looked down, seeing that her pants and clothes were covered in dried milk tea.
"Where is the person who brought me here?"
The nurse clicked her tongue and looked a bit gossipy in her cold gaze. "That handsome guy is a good person. He paid for your medical expenses and wanted to stay with you, but he received a phone call and hurriedly left."
Reinette sighed and then said. "That's a shame. I can't thank him now."
The nurse wanted to tease her again, but heard Reinette continue, "Can you please speed up the drip? I still have work to do."
"You white-collar workers are so scary. You have a high fever, but you still want to go back to work," the nurse complained while helping Reinette speed up the drip.
Reinette closed her eyes wearily, and Jadeon's cold eyes flashed in her mind. She jolted up, and her back was covered in cold sweat.
She glanced out the window, seeing people coming and going, and unconsciously clenched her fists.
Her phone rang, and it was an unfamiliar number.
"Hello..."
"Xiaosong, what's wrong with you? It took you so long to buy coffee?"
Reinette frowned and realized it was Larick. She took a breath and said, "Sorry sir, I fainted in a mall and now I'm in the hospital."
"Hospital?" Mr. Larick exclaimed, surprisingly showing a bit of concern. "Take a day off. Yvonne has almost finished your work."
Reinette had a gut feeling that these people weren't that good-hearted, but she didn't have the energy to argue now. She said a few polite words and hung up.
The IV drip lasted until almost 4 p.m. When she left the hospital, the sun had begun to set.
It was useless to go to the company at this time, so she decided to go home directly. She didn't care about the salary anyway.
With a negative attitude, Reinette took a taxi home. However, as soon as she reached the elevator door, she heard noise.
