The video showed the laboratory. Playing at double speed, the footage soon showed someone stealthily opening the door and going in, wearing a hazmat suit and a large hat. The person paused momentarily, as if glancing around, then probably relaxed and went to one of the observation cages.
They took something from their pockets and held it over their heads.
Lily showed the video to others, and they widened their eyes when they saw someone enter the laboratory. Dashiell stared at it as well with a tense look.
He heaved a sigh of relief, however, when he saw the person wearing a hazmat suit and a mask, not revealing their face.
When the video stopped as the person left the laboratory, Dashiell straightened up and snorted. “That’s all you’ve got?
“We can’t even see the person’s face! Even if the video is real, how could you say it’s me?” Dashiell snorted. “Trying to frame me with such a ridiculous video? Dr. Russell, you suck as a doctor but are good at playing tricks, right?
“Dr. Blanc, don’t tell me you buy her story! What I said was all for the good of our project. The truth is that Lily has failed, and she’s trying to set me up! It's pointless for me to work here if you don't do what you're supposed to!"
He looked aside, and several co-workers on good terms with him started defending him. “Yeah! How can we tell the person is Dr. Stone? Dr. Russell, you’re being unreasonable. Besides, who could prove that your video is real?”
Seeing Dashiell’s confident look, Lily chuckled. “Do you think I would expose you if I didn’t have concrete evidence?”
“Then show us!” Dashiell laughed dryly. “However, if it’s something ridiculous like that video, then…”
Before he could finish, his eyes suddenly went wide.
Lily’s finger tapped her screen and brought up another video. When the person left, he turned around and showed his face.
Due to the camera angle, one could see his profile, and although it was unclear, those familiar with Dashiell could tell it was him.
“No, that’s not me…” Staring at the image with widened eyes, Dashiell kept trying to deny it in shock. “That’s not me! This is slander and defamation!”
“Let everyone be the judge of it. We’ve worked together for quite a while, and Dr. Stone has many friends here. As we know you rather well, we can easily tell if it is you, can’t we?” She smiled and showed the phone screen to everyone.
Of course, they could!
They stuck out their heads to look at it. Those close to Dashiell tried to find fault with the video, but they straightened their necks and said nothing after seeing it. They even started to look suspiciously at Dashiell with a mix of emotions.
“Why? Do you need more proof?” Giving him a sidelong glance, Lily dropped her smile and looked serious. “We’re all colleagues, and I didn’t want to put you on the spot, but you left me no choice. Now I’d like to know why you did it.”
“I didn’t!” Looking up, Dashiell was infuriated. “How dare you accuse me based on these hazy videos?! I hadn’t done anything! Who would know how your mice died? Don’t try to blame it on me! I don’t even know how to enter your lab, let alone sabotage you!”
