The queen sat in the wheelchair and gently called out to Lily, “I’m sorry. I admit it’s unfair, but do you believe in destiny?”
Lily was surprised. “Do your people believe in that?”
“I do!” The older woman nodded. “Well, perhaps I didn’t when I was young, but I do now that I’m weaker. You might not believe me, but I’m not afraid of dying. It’s just that there are many things I haven’t completed yet, and my people still need me.
“I’m not ready to die, and you’re the most suitable candidate out of so many people in the world. Even your blood type is similar to mine. Don’t you think it’s your destiny? So, I’m very sorry, but I have no other choice.”
She spoke earnestly with a gentle look, but what she wanted to do was vile.
Lily smiled and found a place to sit and gaze at the older woman. “What happens when my body grows old and weak?”
“It won’t. Your body will remain well-preserved with R10. Besides, my country's most brilliant doctors and scientists will take good care of it.” The queen gave Fred a look over her shoulder.
Fred nodded slightly, seemingly responding to what she said.
Lily saw their interaction and propped her temple with her hand, asking, “If your doctors and scientists are so brilliant, why did you have to get me to create R10? Couldn’t they do it?”
The queen was stumped. It was clear what Lily asked was beyond her knowledge. She frowned and subconsciously looked over her shoulder.
