After saying that, Heather was ready to leave, with Ralph chasing after her. “Where are you going? Let me take you.”
“I have a car.” She did not stop and just continued to walk quickly.
“You can ask your driver to take your car home. It’s rare for us to spend time together, so don’t be so cold to me, all right? Give me a chance to spend time with you, hm?”
“I drove here.”
“You did? Didn’t you say that you can’t drive?” He vaguely remembered that she mentioned something about not knowing how to drive. Plus, she seemed to have a driver who drove her back when they bade farewell the other day too.
Heather finally stopped and replied after some thought, “I learned how to do it.”
“In such a short time?”
It astonished Ralph. ‘She learned how to drive in just a few days? Getting a license would take much longer than this, right?’
“I’ve been learning, and I just got my driving license recently.’ she replied perfunctorily, not wanting to spend time talking about all this nonsense with him anymore.
She turned around and stretched her arm, putting it in front of her to widen the distance between them. “Mr. Russell, I’m interested to date you, and there’s a possibility for us to get married, but please don’t go overboard. I need my personal space too. If you can’t accept this and you can’t respect me for that, it’s pointless for us to continue with this relationship.”
Ralph was stunned by her reprimands. All this time, he thought he had her in the palm of his hands and that he was in control of the entire situation. When he met with Heather today, he felt like they had gone back to square one again.
