Ella’s POV
My adrenaline was exploding!
Colton was alive and standing in front of me, facing the dozens of Volanas that were flooding toward us. His mother, Diana, was in the lead and she was huge!
She was one of the most glorious beasts I had ever seen.
A spark of electricity rushed out of her paws and her eyes were glowing an assortment of colors. I could feel the strength of her true Volana powers. Her entire village and then some were following closely after her, each of them a different color and glorious.
Their eyes shone with multiple colors and radiated with power.
My mother lifted her head in response and howled loudly for all to hear. Following closely after my mother’s howl, the rest of them howled in response.
Tears welled in my eyes at the sight of the amazing Volana wolves finally united with their powers and coming together.
This was it.
The rise of the Volanas.
I was overwhelmed with emotions.
Colton glanced down at me with a glowing smile on his face and I couldn’t help but return it.
It seemed all the rogues and the remaining witches around us were staring at the Volanas as well, but they didn’t look as happy. In fact, they looked terrified. I’m sure they weren’t expecting this type of outcome.
My mother ran to catch up with the pack of Volanas. Colton looked around for a moment as if he was intently thinking about something. Then, he looked back at me, and his smile widened as he nodded with his head toward the Volanas.
My heart swelled.
He wanted me to join them.
I threw my arms around him and held him close to me, taking in his incredible scent and basking in his warmth. It felt like it’s been so long since I was able to hold him in my arms and be close to him.
He was alive.
He buried his face in the nape of my neck, taking in my scent as well and I felt his entire body relaxing against mine. I didn’t want to let him go; not ever. I came close to losing him and the thought of parting from him terrified me.
But I knew we had to finish this battle, or we would never truly be free.
He reluctantly released me, leaving me feeling cold and vulnerable. I took a deep breath to steady my rapidly beating heart before he gave me an encouraging nod.
I turned in the direction of the flood of Volanas and I ran in their direction. As I jumped in the air, Val took over and we shifted into our wolf form in mid-air. We ran with so much speed, that everything around me was a blur.
By the time I caught up with the others, they were near the center of the forest where the rogues were shivering in their skin.
My heart swelled, knowing that after today, everything was about to change for the better. We weren’t hiding anymore; now all the Volanas in our area were out in the open and more powerful than ever!
Seeing that all the rogues were frozen in place and terrified, I knew we weren’t going to have to fight them. If I could avoid hurting anyone else, that would be the goal.
They were powerless against us; most of the witches were already gone and there was no sign of Jazzy. These rogues weren’t a match for our true powers.
“Mom,” I said through the mindlink; she glanced at me. “We don’t have to fight them. I doubt they will attempt to fight us back.”
“What do you suggest we do?” My mother asked. “I will let Diana know and she will alert the others.”
“We spread a message,” I said firmly. “Use your mind manipulation to get them to leave and spread the word that Volana’s are not to be messed with.”
“Do you think that’ll be enough?”
I thought about it for a moment as I glanced around the battleground. There were a lot of injured wolves, and it made my heart hurt knowing they were hurt protecting us.
“It’ll be a start,” I finally answered.
She nodded and went toward Diana to tell her the plan. At that moment, the rogues grew bold and decided they were going to try to run from us.
