A loud noise came from outside. The window was closed, so Elizabeth was startled, "What happened?" After she said that, there was another loud noise. With a whoosh, a brilliant firework shot into the sky. "It's a firework!" Elizabeth said with joy, "Who's letting off fireworks so late at night?"

James looked out of the window and then understood.

He did not answer, but just said, "Why don't we go to have a look?"

"Okay!"

Therefore, the two of them went to the balcony.

In the open space downstairs, John was standing next to a bunch of fireworks which were neatly arranged and were of different packages and colors. At this time, seeing them come out, he even reached out and waved at them with a smile, which was completely different from his usual style.

Elizabeth was stunned for a moment and looked at John downstairs. Then she looked up at the dazzling fireworks and immediately understood. They let off fireworks to celebrate her birthday specially.

Her eyes blurred with tears instantly, and there were so many emotions in her heart that she could not think of a word to describe it. She was happy, touched, and delighted... She really couldn't tell how she felt.

Standing next to her, James glanced at her and saw her expression clearly. He smiled and didn't make fun of her. He just held her thin shoulder and gently pulled her into his arms.

"Yes, I'm here. Dad and mom are also here." After that, he pointed at the rope that was shaking next to him, "Look at this."

Elizabeth looked in the direction he was pointing at. With the help of the lights in the house and the fireworks in the sky, she could see clearly that a rope was swaying outside the balcony, and there was a beam of light approaching her and getting brighter.

In less than half a minute, a bamboo basket appeared on the edge of the fence. Inside the basket, there was an exquisite cake which was filled with candles and decorative stars.

The candlelight flickered. The night was dark, but Elizabeth felt that the candlelight was so brilliant that it shone directly on her heart, making her feel warm.

"Elizabeth!"

Lydia's cheerful voice came from the top of her head.

Elizabeth looked up, only to see Lydia standing on the balcony on the third floor. She leaned out over the railing and smiled at her, holding the rope which was tied with the bamboo basket in her hand.

Seeing that Elizabeth was looking at her, Lydia reached out to wave at her and said, "Happy birthday!"

James raised his eyebrows and finally understood why Lydia had just said that her surprise would be more impressive in the dark night. It seemed that she was right.

Although he was not as moved as Elizabeth, he remembered that he was naughty when he was a child, and John locked him up in the room and did not allow him to eat, but Lydia sent him food like this...

"Okay." Elizabeth nodded heavily, took two steps forward, and picked up the cake in the basket.
