Elizabeth Liang glanced at James Lu and chose to ignore him.
She took out her slippers from the cabinet, put them on, and then headed inside.
James bellowed at her back, ''Are you ignoring me, Elizabeth Liang?"
Elizabeth turned around, looked at him, and shook her head. "Have you eaten? I'll make dinner right away."
James was even more infuriated by that.
"Don't you think that it's a little too late to ask if I've had dinner NOW?" He walked to her in a few steps. "Do you know how many god damn calls I made, Elizabeth? And you didn't answer any of them! What were you thinking?"
"I didn't have my phone on me because I was busy with something else."
"Then couldn't you have called me back? Don't you know..." James was going to say, "Don't you know how worried I was?" But he stopped halfway through because it felt too embarrassing and uncharacteristic of him.
"Don't you know how hungry I was?" He said instead after a pause.
"My phone died," then Elizabeth retorted somewhat weakly. "That's why I said I'll cook dinner right away, didn't I?" "Cook this cook that! Do you only know how to cook?" James shouted angrily. "You think I wouldn't know that you're just looking for an excuse to hide in the kitchen because you're still mad about yesterday?"
"Are you only going to be happy when I bow my head down to you and beg for forgiveness, huh Elizabeth?"
"No," Elizabeth shook her head.
James raised his eyebrows suspiciously and asked, "No?"
"Yeah," she wasn't mad at him anymore.
"Hmph!" James grunted and said. "You think I wouldn't know that you're secretly saying yes on the inside, you two-faced f*cking woman!"
He dragged her to the sofa, forced her to sit down, and sat on the coffee table in front of her.
"Let me make it clear that I'm not going to apologize in a million, billion years, understood?"
Elizabeth nodded.
James was even more irritated by her obedient and earnest nod. Isaac wasn't lying when he told him that women held grudges forever!
"Today..." James pulled at his hair in frustration, and his originally neatly styled hair was now pulled into a complete mess. "Sir Wu came to Lu Enterprises today to... sign the contract."
Elizabeth was delighted to hear that. "Really?" "Ahem!" James nodded. "So, as compensation, you can ask me for anything you want right now."
Then he frowned for a moment and added, "I'll promise to consider accepting whatever request you have as long as it's within my acceptable range."
James had decided that no matter how many designer bags or clothes or jewelry or whatever that Elizabeth wanted, he would buy them for her in an instant. He wouldn't even mind filling up her room with those things.
Elizabeth was taken aback by his serious expression, but she shook her head, "I don't want your compensation."
"What?"
"What happened with Uncle Wu was just dumb luck on my part. Plus, I'm just happy that I could help you." Elizabeth seemed to be genuinely happy. Her big doe eyes crinkled into two dazzling crescents.
James silently watched her joyous smiling face for a while, dazed.
