I Only Want You novel Chapter 82

The next day, Elizabeth Liang was incessantly told off by the dean in front of the entire class for not handing in the drawing from yesterday. She went on and on about how she couldn't believe that such a brilliant student would damage the school's reputation and so on.

And of course, not only was she publically reprimanded, and forced to endure gossipy eyes from the entire class, but her credits for that lesson were also no doubt out of the window.

Perhaps the only good thing that came out of it was that, because Elizabeth didn't hand in the drawing, everyone collectively let go of how James Lu said that she matched his tastes and that he was going to scout her as a talent. Since, well, how could someone who couldn't even hand in a drawing possibly be qualified to work at Lu Enterprises?

After class, Margot Wang walked over to Elizabeth's table. She sneered and mocked Elizabeth ruthlessly, "Looks like your dreams yesterday have turned to dust, Elizabeth. You seriously believed that James was into you, and that you were going to work at Lu Enterprises, didn't you? Turns out you got your hopes up for nothing at all. I can't imagine how miserable you're feeling right now."

Evelyn Wu was not going to sit and listen to the slander. Although she also had no idea why Elizabeth didn't hand in the drawing, her current priority was to defend Elizabeth's reputation.

Evelyn stood up and glared at Margot. "How mean can you be? Does making fun of others actually elevate your status or just give you the illusion that you're superior to everyone else?"

Margot was furious, "Evelyn Wu!"

Elizabeth didn't want a fight, so she pulled on Evelyn, signalling for her to stop talking.

Evelyn ignored her and continued, "Hmph! You can't keep James's name out of your mouth, but it doesn't look like James cares for you at all. You say that Elizabeth got her hopes up for nothing? Well, it's better than not being given any hope by James in the first place!"

Evelyn wasn't academically talented, but she could cut through people with words like nobody else.

Margot's eyes widened in disbelief that Evelyn dared to talk to her like this. Her colored lips trembled with rage.

At this moment, Genevieve Lo ran over and stood in front of Margot. She pointed at Evelyn and chided, "What right do you have to talk to Margot like this, Evelyn Wu?"

Evelyn was speechless when she saw who had arrived. She pulled Elizabeth up and said, "Let's go and have lunch, Elizabeth!"

"Hey..."

As soon as they left the classroom, Evelyn put away her sharp tongue and began to gossip. "You're getting bolder by the day, Elizabeth. You had the audacity to not hand in The Devil's assignment? I guess you don't have anything to fear when your husband's got your back!"

"It's not that!" Elizabeth rolled her eyes at Evelyn. "I did make a drawing yesterday, but that a*shole James Lu went back on his word and confiscated the drawing!" God pity her wasted credits!

"..." Evelyn paused, then opened her mouth in fangirl mode, "Your husband is so cute!"

"Cute my a*s!" He was a piece of sh*t!

"By the way, your husband came to look for you on purpose yesterday, didn't he?" Evelyn giggled. "Not only did he protect you, he also came to your classroom to flirt with you, and said that you fit his tastes in front of so many people! Wow, what a roundabout and weird and unique display of affection!"

A unique display of affection?

Elizabeth froze. Although she was a tiny bit happy about Evelyn's observations, she still said, "Screw that, I'm pretty sure he was sent by god specifically just to mess with me. I lost all my credits from yesterday!"

Evelyn didn't care about that, and slyly asked Elizabeth, "Did anything happen yesterday when you two were alone in the classroom? You know, like a kiss or a hug?"

A kiss? A hug?

James held her hand yesterday and was really close to her. Did that count as a hug?

A kiss...

Remembering yesterday's embarrassment, Elizabeth blushed and wisely chose not to answer.

Evelyn would laugh her head off if she told her that she had a nosebleed just because James got close to her.

"Hmm..." Evelyn watched suspiciously as Elizabeth's face turned slightly red, "I knew something happened! Tell me sis!"

"Tell your a*s!" Elizabeth tried hard to maintain her composure. "Come on, let's go and eat, I have to go to work later!"

Evelyn pouted unhappily. "You're so stingy. It's not gonna kill you to tell me about it!"

Elizabeth ignored her and headed straight to the cafeteria.

As soon as the two of them reached the cafeteria entrance, Elizabeth's phone rang. She took it out to see that the call was from Theodore Chao.

She declined the call without any hesitation when she saw the number.

However, in less than three seconds, the phone rang again.

"Who is it?" Evelyn leaned her head over.

"Theodore."

Evelyn looked at Elizabeth's phone with disgust. "Why not answer it? It's not going on your phone bill anyway. Let's see what kind of sh*t he's gonna dump this time!" "Okay... go in first and wait for me."

With her phone in hand, Elizabeth walked to the gazebo outside of the cafeteria, and finally answered the call. She asked in a calm and icy voice, "What do you want?"

Theodore paused before he let out a bitter laugh and said, "Is that how you're talking to me now, Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth snickered and asked in return, "What did you expect? That a call from you would make me cry with joy?"

"Nevermind, I didn't call you to have a fight. Come out, Elizabeth, I'm at the north gate of your college."
