I Only Want You novel Chapter 91

Josephine Liang arrived at the location Director Chen gave her and opened the door. The polite smile on her face disappeared when she saw that Director Chen was alone in the room. She asked in surprise, "Didn't you say that Mr. Chang was here? Why are you here alone, Director Chen?"

Director Chen, who was drinking tea, answered with a smile, "Mr. Chang had just gotten off the plane and is on his way here." Director Chen continued to fiddle with the small teapot on the table. "Josephine, my superstar, come and sit here."

Josephine was still thinking about what happened with President Lee and was in no mood to drink tea.

"Director Chen, since you don't know when Mr. Chang is going to come anyway, can I just leave for today?"

"Do you know what you're saying?" Director Chen frowned slightly. "Mr. Chang is in a hurry to see you first thing when he comes back. Do you know what that means? Josephine, I know that you're a rich heiress now and that you have a handsome and wealthy fiance, but Mr. Chang is a big spender, and he's got underground connections as well. You have to show up for him, for your own good."

Josephine rushed all the way over here precisely because she was aware of that man's importance.

The entertainment industry was overflowing with talents. It wasn't rare for people who wanted a big breakout to accompany investors for dinners and drinks, and maybe even something more...

Whether or not someone could become popular and famous depended on their talent, and also their luck. Even if they did manage to rise to fame someday, the networking dinners were still absolutely necessary. What for? To not be pushed back down to anonymity again, of course.

"But..."

"But what?" Director Chen looked at her and patted the seat next to him. "Come and sit. Have a cup of tea and wait for a while."

Josephine had no choice but to go and sit down. As soon as she did, Director Chen handed her a cup of fragrant tea. "I had some free time so I learned how to prepare tea. Have a taste, what do you think?"

"Thank you, Director Chen." Josephine held the small teacup in her hands and leaned in to sniff it. Then she took a sip and praised, "The fragrance is pleasantly delicate. It tastes slightly bitter at first, but after savouring the flavor I can say that it is filled with the kind of sweetness that is distinctive to tea."

"I had no clue that you're not only beautiful, but also well-versed in tea making."

Josephine pushed down the irritation inside her and replied with a smile, "My father likes tea, so I know a thing or two." With that, she drained the cup in one gulp.

Director Chen silently watched Josephine as his lips tugged into a faint smile. He looked at the teacup in her hand, then poured a cup for himself to sip on. Before Josephine's rise in status, Director Chen had actually wanted to get his hands on her. However, after the Liang family leapt to eminence, and Josephine had found a fiance of equal status, he had to give up on his ideas.

Not that it really mattered. After all, he only needed to move a finger to find a woman who was his type. But today...

Sometimes, people just didn't have a choice. If you wanted success, if you wanted to be on top, there would inevitably be times where you have to step on others on your way up. If you didn't, then you would become somebody else's victim.

That was exactly what Director Chen was doing to Josephine right now, but he had no regrets. Anyone who was smart enough would've made the same decision that he did, to sacrifice the other for his own grand achievements. In this game of survival, only the ruthless rules of society were to blame.

Director Chen put down the teacup in his hand and stood up. "It's almost time. I'll go to the door and wait for Mr. Chang."

Josephine also got up when she heard him. "I'll go with you too. I don't want to be rude and make Mr. Chang unhappy."

"You don't have to." Director Chen smiled. "Go and powder up or something. When Mr. Chang sees that you're all pretty and dolled up, he would have no reason to be angry with you."

"Well, alright then." Josephine nodded. To be honest, she didn't really want to go and greet Mr. Chang either. She was incredibly anxious and was desperate to ask about President Lee.

"Make sure you're ready."

After that, Director Chen went out.

After he left the room, he did not hurry downstairs to wait for Mr. Chang. Mr. Chang was just an excuse for him to call Josephine and ask her to come out.

Standing at the staircase landing, he took out his phone—

“She drank it already..."

Josephine made two phone calls in succession, but she did not get the answer that she wanted. Out of frustration and uneasiness, she decided to quickly touch up her makeup.

Looking at her beautiful and alluring reflection in the vanity mirror, one side of her lips lifted into a small smile.

After patiently waiting for more than ten minutes, she began getting a little hot, and her mouth felt kind of dry. She felt strangely unsettled, as if she was looking for something.

Josephine hid in the bathroom of this suite and smoked two cigarettes in a row, but that didn't quell the discomfort inside of her at all. In fact, her body seemed to be heating up even more as the time passed.

Having been in the entertainment industry for years, Josephine had heard of all sorts of happenings, even if she hadn't personally experienced them herself. Coming here was the only time she had left the house today, and there wasn't anything for her to eat.

Josephine was extremely alarmed as she watched her face in the mirror getting redder and redder. She opened the bathroom door, ran to where she was sitting, and grabbed the teacup that she was just drinking from. Her face rapidly changed in color.

She couldn't understand why Director Chen would do this.

Did he want her to sleep with Mr. Chang? Even if Mr. Chang had pressured him, he could've just explained the situation to her, she wasn't inflexible to negotiation. Why did he have to go so far as to drug her?

This won't do. She had to ask Director Chen to tell her exactly what he was doing!

In a fit of panic and anger, Josephine took out her cellphone from her handbag and began to dial Director Chen's number—
