I Only Want You novel Chapter 90

"Sign your name if you don't have any objections." The person recording the interrogation casually threw him the record book. His voice was flat and carried a hint of disdain and impatience.

Looking at the words written on it, President Lee's face turned ghastly pale and his lips couldn't stop trembling.

He had recounted the events truthfully, but the record was almost entirely different from what he said. They made this record with him only as a formality. The contents of it described everything as his fault, every single detail of it from beginning to end!

"Make sure you answer nicely later. Don't make any trouble for me, otherwise..."

James Lu's words echoed in his ears over and over again, crushing his sanity.

President Lee was sitting in a tiny chair, and the clothes that he had put on in a hurry were all crumpled. He was slightly bent over and his face was covered in black and blue. It was clear at a glance how violently he was beaten.

President Lee shivered as he looked at the person in front of him, and he was panicking inside. He was smart enough to have figured out by now what James had meant earlier.

"What are you staring at! I told you to sign this!" The person in charge of recording shouted in annoyance.

"I... but what you wrote is different..." President Lee was struggling with his back to the wall.

"Different how?" Samuel Lee, who had been listening from the side this whole time, smiled innocently and asked, "President Lee, are you saying that there's something wrong with what you said yourself?"

President Lee raised his hand and wiped the cold sweat on his forehead. He brought up his status to bargain for some mercy. "Assistant Lee, I am the president of XX bank. Don't you think that you're going too far with this? After all, we'll still have to cross paths in the future."

Samuel smiled and said, "Do you really believe that you'll still be the president when you get out of here?"

"Wh-what do you mean?"

"I mean it literally." Samuel stood up and glanced at the record book. "Being in your position, President Lee, you must be aware that my boss is not someone to be trifled with. So why did you have to mess with someone who's with my boss?"

President Lee looked puzzled. Then he thought about the way James acted back at the hotel, and he could feel his heart freeze in place. "Elizabeth Liang? Belongs to Mr. Lu?"

Samuel gave him a knowing look, as if to say 'what do you think?', then he smiled, "President Lee, you should try to be more careful while we're still being nice to you. We don't need to resort to violence to teach you how to behave, do we?" After that, Samuel tilted his head. "Or would you feel better if we showed your current state to your wife?"

After finishing his work at the police station, Samuel rushed all the way to Scena Villas and stopped in front of one house. He knocked on the door.

It didn't take long for the door to open. The person who opened the door was none other than Director Chen, the chief director of "Flowers On the Path", which was the hottest TV series at the moment.

He seemed to have been sleeping before this, since he was wearing a loose night-robe.

"Who are you?"

"Hello, I am Samuel Lee, the special assistant of the CEO of Lu Enterprises. Can we have a chat if you have the time?"

Director Chen was an emerging and popular romance drama director. He rose to fame after directing two costume dramas in a row.

"What can I do for you this late at night, Assistant Lee?" Director Chen asked in confusion after he invited Samuel to take a seat in the living room.

Instead of beating around the bush, Samuel directly asked, "The female lead of your newest series is Josephine Liang, correct?"

Director Chen had learned how to read people quite well as a result of being in the television industry for so long. Did the question mean that Lu Enterprises was planning on sponsoring the show? "Then what if my boss wants you to change the female lead?"

Director Chen's wishful thinking was shattered, and judging by the question, the situation seemed to be developing in the complete opposite direction.

"Well..."

"Please let me know if there are any inconveniences, Director Chen."

Although Director Chen had no idea what James Lu's intentions were, he still admitted somewhat awkwardly, "I'll be honest with you, if we haven't started filming the show, one word from Lu Enterprises and we could've upended everything. But unfortunately, filming has already started. If we switch the heroine, it means that we'll have to start over everything. It's not just a waste of human resources, the funds are a problem too..."

Samuel smiled and nodded. "You don't have to worry about the funds. Lu Enterprises will take care of any excessive expenses. Today might be a little too hasty, but my boss has said that you can come to Lu Enterprises tomorrow to sign the contract."

Director Chen was stunned. Although he was glad that Lu Enterprises was willing to be an investor, he still knew to think rationally. He gave Samuel a distressed smile and said, "Assistant Lee, I'm happy to hear that, but the reason we chose Josephine Liang as the female lead was not only because of her pretty looks, but also because she is a good actress. And most importantly, her family is also one of our investors..." "That won't be a problem. Whatever amount the Liang Company had invested, Lu Enterprises will offer five times more than that."

"..." Director Chen was almost crying. God knows how much time he spent and how many dinners he bought to find enough sponsors and investors for the show, just for a jackpot to waltz up to his door tonight. Yet he found the surprisingly difficult to swallow.

"But we have contracts with the actors. If I remove her so suddenly for no reason, the compensation..." Would no doubt be a big sum of money as well?

"The compensation? Lu Enterprises will handle that as well."

"But it's going to be difficult to find a suitable replacement right away."

Samuel smiled and glanced at the staircase, where a foot in a pink slipper suddenly rushed off around the corner. "I believe you already have a candidate prepared?"

Director Chen also looked upstairs with a slightly embarrassed face. He coughed and said, "She's a newbie, you know how it is in this industry, hehe. But, may I ask why Mr. Lu is being so... aggressive about this?"

"My boss simply doesn't want to see her face, that is all." Samuel looked at his watch and continued, "Director Chen, let me put it this way. As long as you remove Josephine Liang, Lu Enterprises will invest in any TV series or movie you decide to shoot in the future."
