A couple of them were chatting away, back and forth. When they suddenly noticed that Emily, who was usually quite the chatterbox, hadn't said a word and looked a bit down in the dumps.
Brian pinched his own face, "What's up with you?"
Emily replied, "Something just crossed my mind. I think I overheard Grandpa Augustine mentioning that someone might be after Nelly. We can't let her go back alone."
Brian said, "With all the bodyguards that Grandpa Augustine has arranged for Cornelia, it would be impossible for anyone to lay a finger on her."
Emily argued, "Cornelia came here in our car, and we didn't tell the bodyguards she was leaving. What if they don't know she's gone, and there's no one with her..."
At this, Brian freaked out a bit, "We need to let those bodyguards know right away that Cornelia has left. She's going to be in her friend's car, and they need to be aware."
...
Meanwhile, Cornelia had already hopped into Ayden's car.
Ayden was focused on driving. Cornelia, sitting in the backseat, pondered for a moment before asking, "Weren't you supposed to be on a business trip with Marcus?"
Ayden replied, "My current duty is to stay by your side."
Cornelia said, "So your brother Jayden went with Marcus instead, right? Can you check where they are now?"
It was past noon at home, and early morning in France. By Marcus' schedule, he should've been awake, but he hadn't returned her call yet. Before getting into the car, Cornelia had called Marcus but no one answered.
Ayden said, "I'm sorry! I'm not allowed to contact Jayden privately during a mission."
