Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 1231

A little over half an hour later, they were back at Lakeview Estates. The place had been empty for a few days and was a bit dusty. Zack and Patricia helped Cornelia clean up the place.

Tahlia's room was spotless, not a trace of her left. She didn't seem to plan on coming back. Cornelia hid her pain and told Patricia, "You can have this room from now on."

"Sure."

After sorting out Patricia's accommodation, Zack tried to talk to Cornelia but hesitated.

Cornelia, not in the mood for a deep conversation, said, "It's late, and we have work tomorrow. You should head home and get some sleep."

"What? Sleep? How can I sleep without knowing what's going on?" Zack pulled Cornelia to sit on the living room couch, "Tell me straight, why did you suddenly get a divorce?"

Cornelia shrugged nonchalantly, "Didn't feel like being married anymore, so I got a divorce."

Zack said angrily in a raised voice, "Cornelia, I get that you want to put on a brave face for others, but do you need to do that with me? Haven't I seen you at your worst?"

"That's the truth. Why are you so mad?" Cornelia retorted.

Zack was about to explode, "You protected Marcus like crazy before. Even a bad word about him would set you off. You told us countless times that you wanted to be with him forever. Now, all of a sudden, you guys are divorced. Do you expect me to believe nothing happened?"

"Let the past be the past. There's nothing to talk about." Cornelia didn't want to bring up Marcus again.

Zack was so mad he wanted to strangle her, "Cornelia, are you trying to kill me with frustration?"

Cornelia didn't respond.

Zack warned, "Don't think by staying silent I'll stop asking. You need to tell me what happened, or no one's getting any sleep tonight."
