Cameron handed Marcus a drink, "Marc, fancy a drink?"
Before Marcus could respond, Cornelia stepped in front of him, "I'm sorry! Mr. Hartley is under the weather, no drinks for him tonight."
Cameron's brow furrowed, a hint of annoyance creeping into his eyes. He was having a conversation with Marcus, not her place as an assistant to butt in.
But he held his tongue. He knew Marcus had a soft spot for this woman.
Cameron forced a smile, "Ms. Stewart, there's something I want to say but not sure if it's appropriate."
Cornelia, "If you think it's inappropriate, then don't say it."
Cameron took his time before continuing, "I feel I shouldn't say this, but I still feel the need to remind you. Don't you think you're meddling too much in Marc's affairs? Whether he drinks or not should not be your concern, it should be his wife's. Yet, here you are stepping in."
"I don't think she's overstepping, why do you have to make a fuss?" Marcus shot Cameron an annoyed look, adding, "My wife doesn't want me drinking."
A warm feeling spread through Cornelia's heart as she looked up at him. Their eyes met.
Cornelia quickly averted her gaze, looking at the ceiling, the floor, anywhere but Marcus.
Cameron, a little embarrassed, changed the subject, "Marc, you're okay with a woman bossing you around? It's just a woman, any woman would do, right?"
Any woman would do. That was what Marcus used to think.
But now, he couldn't imagine if the woman he had married wasn't Cornelia.
Marcus, "Who I marry, who I let boss me around, that's my business, and it's none of your concern."
Seeing this, Clair pushed a stunned Natalia towards Marcus, "Marc, Natalia's been talking about you non-stop. She says you treat her better than her own brother. Let her take care of you tonight..."
