Granger said, "The Reese family ain't broke, you could have any necklace you fancy, why choose a knockoff? You're making us look bad."
"Right, my bad, shouldn't have been such a show-off." Clair admitted quickly, but she was boiling inside, thinking Granger was a real piece of work.
That necklace was given to her by him. He told her it was called Heavenly Radiance, the last piece by the famous designer Wayland. He had outbid others in Paris with 30 million bucks.
The dirty rat had fooled her before. Last year, when the Heavenly Radiance necklace was being auctioned, he happened to be in Paris, which was why she bought his story without doing her homework.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have ended up in such a pickle.
Granger turned to Cameron, "You're now the CEO of the Reese Group, but you still don't think before you act. Ms. Stewart is young and beautiful, and you ain't the only rooster in the henhouse. If you fancy her, go for it, why listen to the gossip?"
Granger's words seemed like he was schooling his son, but anyone with half a brain could tell he was hinting that Cornelia had a lot of suitors.
Cornelia kept her poker face, watching their drama.
Even the usually level-headed Ryan couldn't help but speak up, disregarding the long-standing friendship between their families, "Mr. Reese, your son's actions don't seem like he's fond of Ms. Stewart."
Granger's face changed, "Ryan, you haven't taken over the Petersen family business yet, and you don't know the ins and outs of the business world. You should spend more time with your dad, let him teach you some life lessons."
"I might not be a whiz at business, but I'm much better at being a decent human being than Cameron, even better than you," Ryan shot back, "Ms. Stewart is tonight's guest, what have you all done to her?
First, it was a setup, then Cameron accused her of theft. You must know the nasty things Cameron said."
Ryan waved a recording device in his hand, "I've recorded everything tonight. I've officially accepted Ms. Stewart's commission; we'll be suing Cameron for defamation."
Leonardo, who had just finished his business, was still holding a megaphone, "Ladies and gentlemen, you all saw that video, right?
