Cornelia tried to defend herself, but once faced with Marcus' deep eyes that seemed like an abyss, she was left speechless.
She thought their previous interaction was just fine; she just wanted to maintain a purely professional relationship with him. But, even if she couldn't accept the change in their relationship, she couldn't change the fact that Marcus was her husband.
As her husband, it was normal for him to want a closer relationship.
"Today's May 8th, and our date tonight will proceed as planned." Marcus announced with a firm tone, implying that he had decided and didn't need Cornelia's opinion.
Today was May 8th? It was already May 8th?
Cornelia was a bit flustered and confused, "President Hartley, can we not..."
Before she could finish, Marcus had already decisively rejected her, "No."
Cornelia blinked sadly, her eyes reddening. Seeing her like this, Marcus' heart softened, "After I dropped you off last night, I thought a lot. If you don't want to make our relationship public, then we'll just be boss and employee during work. But after work, you're not allowed to hide from me."
Nothing would change during work, just after work. Cornelia thought she could accept this arrangement. Just as she was about to nod in agreement, Ben's voice came from the side, "Cornelia? Cornelia? What are you doing, why aren't you parking your car?"
Ben had been working at the Hartley Group for many years, so his parking spot was in the best location on the first basement floor. He normally wouldn't go to the fourth basement floor. Today his spot was closed due to a burst water pipe, so he parked on the fourth basement floor.
While looking for a spot, he accidentally noticed a familiar car. He rolled down the window and yelled.
