"Not placing a bet?" Zavier seemed surprised by Marcus's blunt refusal. He echoed Marcus's words, lit a cigarette and said, "Since when did you, the CEO of the Hartley Group, become such a chicken?"
Marcus looked up at Zavier, "No bet means no bet. Your words don't faze me, so save your breath."
Zavier snuffed out the just lit cigarette in the ashtray, "Marc, I'm giving you a few more days. If you don't return Skyler to me, don't say I didn't warn you."
Marcus swirled his drink, about to take a sip but remembering Cornelia's advice. He set it down and said, "I'm in this till the end."
Steven asked, "What are you guys doing? It's just a girl. Is it worth ruining your brotherhood over a girl?"
"Just a girl?" Zavier was provoked by the comment. Now he wasn't just mad at Marcus, he was pissed at Steven, "If one day he hides your girl, would you still say it's just a girl?"
Steven replied, "Hannah would never leave me."
Zavier turned to Lucas, "Lucas, what about you?"
Lucas replied, "If someone hides Rosie, I'd fight them to the death."
He knew from a young age that he was going to marry Rosie. The name Rosie was deeply etched in his mind. He couldn't imagine life without Rosie.
Lucas continued, "I can't live without Rosie. She's my wife, I love her, and I can't be without her. Zavier, why can't you live without Skyler? Is it a matter of pride or something else?"
