Cornelia said, "I've just learned that your good friend Sallie has been invited to Rosenberg by the government of Rosenberg for a benefit event, and I'm going to go and be interviewed by them as the victim in the video."
It took a while for Marcus' voice to get back, "Are you sure about this?"
Cornelia nodded, "Yes."
Marcus said, "Then go ahead. I've got your back."
He didn't question her further, just reassured her. This touched Cornelia deeply, "You have nothing else to say? You're not considering stopping me?"
Marcus replied, "It's a good thing and it's your call. Why would I stop you?"
Cornelia asked, "Aren't you worried that once our relationship is out in the open, this could affect the Hartley Group's image?"
Marcus sternly said, "Cornelia, remember what I told you, the Hartley Group will always be your rock, not an obstacle in your path. If it ever faces any problem, it's due to my mismanagement, not you."
He'd never worried about her affairs affecting The Hartley Group, he'd only worried about her pictures coming out, that people would look at her differently, and that she would get hurt.
Cornelia was touched, but found herself at a loss for words.
Marcus asked, "Cornelia, why so quiet all of a sudden?"
"I've got things to handle. I'll call you later." With that, she hung up.
There were others in the car. She didn't want to cry in front of them.
